Typhoon lagoon drink cup question

A couple of years ago, we bought the refillable drink cups at TyphoonLagoon. Can we bring those cups back with us this year and just buy the sticker instead of buying new cups? If so, what is the cost savings?

It's a chip cup like the ones at the resorts. They no longer put a sticker on it like in previous years. I'm not sure, but I would assume you can pay to reactivate the chip like you can for the resort mugs.
