Type of Iron On Paper To Use?

I want to make our family's T-shirts for our next vacation (with the help of Pat from Pats Designs from whom I've requested some REALLY cute designs!). My DH is very concerned with the iron on's looking too "cheap". So, I am trying to find out what the best iron on paper to use would be. All of our designs that I like are dark...I know that makes a difference when choosing iron on paper.

I've been very happy with the opaque transfers from printonit.com. I think there are probably several good brands of paper. I think whether or not the iron-ons look "cheap" has more to do with how you trim and apply them than with one particular brand being better than another. I either matched the background of the design to the shirt color exactly and still trimmed the edges exactly to the border, or trimmed out all the white space around and inside the design so that it looked the best it could. (Not like a cut-out pasted on a shirt.) For instance, one of the designs I used was Amy's name design with the Disney characters inside the letters. I cut each letter completely out and spaced it just right on the shirt and ironed them on. I just think it looks more finished that cutting out a rectangle around the whole name and ironing it on. You could even use fabric paint and make a raised border around the edges. Look at pictures people have posted and you can see what a difference a few finishing touches can make! I use avery transfer paper and so far I am very pleased with it Good luck,,Pat does have some awesome designs..
