Two year old buffets

On the Dining Plan my daughter would not be charged anything for buffets because she is too young for the plan. Does this mean we also don't have to buy her a plate when we go being that we are not on the dining plan?

This is true we travel with our 2 year old who doesn't eat a lot of anything. We will usually order her a drink and then give her things from our plates. Disney is really good about understanding the itty bitties. Actually, even at Cinderella's Royal Table they worked out something for us to feed our DD without having to pay the crazy price. Just talk to the servers.

I think RustyScupper is saying that there's nothing anywhere that says "kids under 2 eat free." At buffets and family style meals, they do, technically because they are all you care to eat restaurants, and it's just as easy to give the child their own plate as it is to make them eat off the parents plates. If you're not at an AYCTE restaurant, an you order something off the menu for your under 3 year old, in most cases, you will pay full menu price for it. I've read reports of servers not charging, but it's rare. I have quite a lot of experience with this. My nephews are 2 1/2 and 18 months. We're going on their 3rd WDW trip in Sept, and we do a lot of menu ordering for them as they're both big eaters.

I realize this isn't Disney directly but surely All Ears got this information from something official.

At buffet and "all-you-care-to-eat" restaurants, there is also no charge for children under 3 who share from an adult's plate. However, if you order from a separate children's or ala carte menu for a child under 3 (rather than eating from the buffet or all-you-care-to-eat offerings), you will be charged the price reflected on the menu.
