Hey Guys,

A few last minute questions:

1. Booked through VH - when should we expect the tickets.

2. Bought universal tickets through themeparkticketdirect - when should they arrive?

3. Haven't booked our travel insurance yet - any suggestions???

i sooo know how you feel , just posted the same thing on fb!!!
we have used insureand go for insurance, v impressed with them so far....
as for the rest call virgin and ask...will set your mind at rest.
im trying to deal with my hospital appt being 5 days before we travel, not sure i can "cope" with them telling me anything i dontwant to hear kwim?
it ll all be good,

You should expect your tickets any time soon. If you don't have them by Thursday when your mail arrives, phone VH and ask them hurry them along. Of course you can also phone them tomorrow if you wish.

I went with Direct Travel as Netty did. I gave them a real run around with several emails full of questions and they did not disappoint in their responses or turnaround time. The price was the best I have had and I took the Premier Plus one! Half the price of AXA which I used before and offers almost identical cover. :thumbsup2

For those of us who are planners and researchers, this can be the hardest time because everything that can be planned has been planned and your mind, which has spent a good part of the last year in overdrive, is now sitting with nothing to do.

If you go onto your 'manage my booking' on the VH site, you should be able to see when they've dispatched the tickets - or it'll at least tell you when they're due to be dispatched. Its under tickets, I think, on the right hand side :goodvibes

Thanks for the replies.

Right - checked on the manage my booking - tickets sent yesterday - so i'll give them til Friday.

No universal tickets - so am panicking slightly by that!!! They send actual tickets right - not a printable voucher or anything?

Will check out the insurance companies......

Hi,can't answer Virgin tickets question, as for insurance we have always used insure and go. Last year we bought Universal tickets from themeparktickets direct and I was on the phone and email practically every day as I ordered my tickets about 6 weeks prior to departure and got them about 3 days before departure.

In the end the Managing Director got involved because I emailed him as I was so concerned! At the time, I was on other forums and realised I was not the only one waiting for tickets.

There were others who had no problems at all with getting tickets but it was too close a call for me and I won't use them again. I would email or ring them just to see if they are on the way.

Direct Travel is still offering 17.5% on Topcashback.co.uk

Check on there and on Quidco to see if any of the others you are thinking of are on there too. Just make sure you get a policy that suits your needs, not just one which gives a good cashback rate. ;)

:thumbsup2 forgot about saying about cashback!!

Themeparkticketsdirect have had a lot of bad reports recently, I would phone them and ask for your tickets to be sent now.
I used them last year and had a lot of problems getting my tickets but they did arrive eventually

hi,

just thought i would share my recent themeparkticketsdirect experience with you,
After booking with them many times, we always recieved our tickets with 2 weeks of booking, Until this time!!!!! With 10 days to go we still hadnt recieved them after many assurances that they will be with us within a couple of days. After lots of calls and threating to generate a refund because they had not fullfilled there part of the transaction, they finally admitted they didnt have the tickets to send and were awaiting a delivery any day:scared1:
On the plus side the tickets turned up 2 days before departure, a little bit close for comfort in my book:banana:

So i would give them a ring 1st thing tomorrow saying you need them straight away, express how dissapointed you are with them and get cross if you need to:sad2:

they did say though, they would issue a E-Ticket if they didnt turn up they day before departure.
This is the last time i will use them, as i never felt comfortwble they were actually ever going to turn up.

giggler:rotfl2:

VH should be with you soon.
Theme park Tickets direct unfortunately are getting a bad reputation recently and is the reason we have removed them from Kenny's ticket thread for the time being. http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews195445.html
I would contact them and try get them to send ASAP.
Insurance, unlike Tracy I can't recommend Insure and Go, they would not pay out for many people, including me at Easter with the Ash problems. Changed to M&S now.

We went with John Lewis (greenbee) for our travel insurance - think its the same policy as M & S but needed to ring Greenbee for heath question and they matched their internet price so saving me about £15. Not the cheapest policy by far but the offer independent traveller cover and it covers volanco ash and hurricanes! just wanted peace of mind :thumbsup2

I saw you had posted and the first thing I thought was "I wonder if they went with Greenbee in the end" :lmao: I guess that answered my question! :)

UPDATE!

Tickets arrived this morning!!!!! However, they have the backage allowance incorrect: we booked before the November deadline so should have 2 x 23kg (but tickets only allow 1 x 23kg)!!

You've all panicked my re: themeparkticketsdirect, so will phone in the morning!!!

Sorted insurance with Insure and Go. Famous last words but we've never ever needed to used it!!!

Thanks Guys!! You all rock!

You still have time. Email the airline and ask them to confirm your baggage allowance as you booked prior to the change. I did this and will be taking a printout of my email from VA with me (although it does show on manage your flights on the website that we have 2x23 kg each). Who are you flying with? Can you get into your booking and check your allowance on there, then print it out?

Still no universal tickets and no reply to the email I sent on Tuesday night....... this is not good. I should have waited until we got there!!!! This is very frustrating. I will ring them in the morning!!!

I thought you rang them to begin with. Yes, phone them. Keep calm while you try and get information about the tickets and try and get them to commit to an acceptable means of getting them to you speedily. If they give you any problems, let them know that you have subsequently discovered that they are notoriously unreliable of late and that you will be posting information about their poor service and lack of communication all over the internet!

I thought you rang them to begin with.

I emailed instead, but just phoned NOW!!

Lady said that they are now only sending tickets 7 to 10 days before departure. She checked my booking and she assured me that it was ok!! So, i'll phone again next Saturday - 7 days out!!!

In terms of insurance - I would suggest checking with your bank.

We upgraded our Halifax account to the ultimate reward - it costs £12 a month - but you get £5 a month cashback with them so effectively it is £7 a month.

With that we have multitrip travel insurance (that will cover my redundancy if we need to cancel)

It also offers a variety of other benefits such as accident cover, purchase protection, breakdown cover, home emergancy plus a lot more.

Another benefit is you are paying monthly so it is less to fork out.
