1) How are the portion sizes at The Cove Bar at DCA? And how is the food in general? I'm thinking about doing a big lunch earlier in the day at Blue Bayou, then hitting The Cove Bar for a light dinner.

2) Is there parking available at the Disneyland Hotel for non-guests? Or is the best thing to park at the Downtown Disney lot and walk over?

Thanks!

I have only seen photos of a few things at Cove. But the lobster nachos I saw were HUGE!
I would park at DTD

The nachos are the only thing we've had there...they are HUGE, DBF and I couldn't finish them and we did them for lunch and we were HUNGRY! lol The drinks are good too, at least the few I've had have been. :)

I'd park at DTD, you can park at the hotels but DTD would just be easier. If you're going for more a few hours you should just park in the Mickey & Friends structure.

Hopefully our experience was just an anomaly - but we had a bad experience at the Cove Bar.

Please know that I'm not exaggerating ... first our table was very dirty and sticky and obviously not cleaned between sittings. The server took forever to take our drink order, and even longer to get the drinks and even longer to get our food ordered and brought out. The trio of sliders (part of the Food & Wine Festival) was undercooked and cold when delivered. The server was not friendly to boot.

My experiences overall with restaurants, service and food in general at DLR is hit or miss. The only consistent exception is the Napa Rose - a true gem.

I had the lobster nachos earlier this year, too. They were fabulous and huge. It was my dinner. I ate more than half. Others at our table had the spinach/artichoke dip and a BBQ chicken pizza. Not as huge, but both very yummy.:)

No, I believe you. Our table once was sticky and not clean, we had to wait forEVER last time for our server to bring our check and then to come back after removing our AP discount, he took forever to bring our food and take our orders too. DBF and I were planning on having a couple drinks each but after it took him soooooooo long we stuck with one drink. But the food was amazing and delicious and the drinks were so good! So yes, we will go back. I should mention we've been there twice and the first time the service was faster but the table was not the cleanest. :) The second time we asked him to wipe it down for us and he did, but that took a while too. :)

The lobster nachos keep coming up in everything I read about The Cove Bar, so we'll definitely have to give them a try. Anyone ever had the crab cakes or calamari?

I'm sad to hear about the bad service, but I'll go in with that in mind and hopefully it'll exceed my expectations.

Well it wasn't the worst service I've ever received, but it certainly didn't seem up to par for what I expect from Disney. I was more annoyed at the lack of checking in with us than anything else. But it was worth it, those nachos were soooooooo good. And no, we've never tried the crab cakes or calamari. Sorry

I go there every trip, the maliboomer is soooo good!! but the lobster nacho's we had were hard as a brick. The cheese was all cold and the stuff was terrible a few times we went. but the maliboomers made it all ok after the 4th one :lmao:

We had the lobster nachos in July and we couldn't finish them all. DH and I shared and we were very glad we did. It was not fast service for us - but it wasn't slow either. We were the only people on the patio that I could see, but we got there right as they opened - since we were starving at 1 pm. We aren't drinkers, so we didn't try the drinks that they offered, but we really appreciated the ice water in a real glass. They did keep it filled for us. We sat and ate our food and enjoyed the shade and the breeze and put our feet up a little and it was nice. It didn't seem like a rush, rush place where they are trying to get as many people in and out as possible.

My DH put the fork on the plate so people could see how big the nachos really are. He was taking food porn pictures for me.
