Two Transportation Questions (LAX to DLR)

We are flying into and out of LAX (against my better judgement, but when Southwest cancelled their MDW-to-SNA nonstop, that's where we ended up!)

Two questions to help us make a decision:
  1. What is purely the fastest way to get from LAX to the Disneyland Hotel? In other words, which transportation method is going to get me from my flight to my hotel the quickest way possible?

  2. What is the cheapest way to get from LAX to the Disneyland Hotel?
We have to figure out transportation soon, and I know these will be DH's questions so we can make a decision!

The fastest, IMHO, a pre-arranged car service, I use GoSedan, but there are many other companies.

Similar options would be a Taxi/Uber/Lyft, but you have to factor in the possible need for car/booster seats. (Many pre-arranged vehicles will provide them)

Cheapest? Depends on the size of your group, as you need to compare some options which charge per person, as compared to others that charge for the trip.

Usually the Disneyland Express Airport Bus works out the cheapest, especially since they offer a kids free option.

Hope that helps.

Fastest? Cab probably.

Cheapest? Not sure. Greyline mentioned above might be but they pick up once an hour and if you miss one that's a long time to wait at a boring airport like lax.

We like rental cars personally. All agencies are offsite at lax and require a shuttle, which takes time, but we prefer to have a car anyway for groceries etc.

But I've also had good experiences with Karmel Shuttle. They don't troll the airport for more people and you arrange the pickup ahead of time.

I suggested the Town Car since the driver will meet you at luggage claim and help you with the luggage, so simple, easy and fast. And cheaper than a Taxi, which is based on the meter, and in heavy traffic, can rack up extra charges quickly.

I totally recommend Lansky Car Service. For $210 round trip (1-7 passengers) they will meet you st the airport, load your luggage, have cold water bottles waiting in the car for you, stop along the way for groceries or incidentals, and deliver you to your hotel. Awesome service!

Uber isn't the fastest, due to the fact you have to gather your luggage, figure out how to get to the upper level with the luggage, find a marked signpost with a letter on it, then use the app to call and request a ride. Then wait for the vehicle to arrive. Adds I say about 10 minutes for a new user. Regulars know the drill, and how to do it.

Having a drive waiting to pick you up is the fastest.

Then it would be a taxi, since they are waiting for you.

Then I would say Uber/Lyft/Wings.

We just returned and used Lansky . LAX to Grand Californian , round trip. Exceptional service , and a very quick direct ride to our resort.
Our flight from the east coast was approx 1 hour early (due to a little change in the prevailing winds) , and I was nervous we would have a little wait for the ride. As we came down the escalator to baggage claim, our driver (Richard if I remember) was already waiting with our name on a sign (Lansky's keeps track of flight arrival times) . He gathered all our luggage up, and loaded into the car and we were off . He was a very responsible driver, but also knew how to get around in LA traffic , and we arrived at VCG in about 45 minutes on a Saturday evening about 5pm. Bottles of water in the car for us was a nice touch. We were offered a grocery stop , but didn't need it so we declined. He unloaded our luggage for us, and told us he would see us in a week.
Check out time came, and our pick-up time was 12:15 pm , so after check out, we lounged in the GC lobby for a little bit , then wandered out to the front of the GC for pick-up 15 minutes early. As we walked out, Richard was pulling up and ready for us. Loaded us all up , and off to LAX we went.
Couldnt have asked for a better experience. I would highly recommend Lansky's . We are planning for a September trip, and will definitely be using Lansky's again.
Our round trip fare was $210. with Lansky's for 4 adults which included a grocery stop (if needed) . I checked Uber fares, and a small Uber X , was about $100 each way .For us, it was a WAY better value using Lansky's (and a much larger comfortable car) .
We used Uber several times throughout our trip with mostly good experiences, and one "weird" one. Wished we had Lansky's for all our travels in the LA area.

Will the car service provide carseats/boosters for kids? I hate lugging them through the airport.

I know that Lansky does. I saw them as they were in the car (possibly for a different pick-up client) and they were nice modern style car seats and boosters.

So glad to hear all of the positive comments about Lansky. We are using them for the first time in May from LAX to the Grand Californian. Like the PP, we are having to make some adjustments. We moved to Boise from Northern California in May 2016, and Southwest does not have a nonstop from BOI to SNA. We did fly SW earlier this month, stopping in OAK on the way down and Sacramento on the way back. Both of our first-leg flights were late. We made our connections, but it was stressful. So we are trying United nonstop from BOI to LAX in May.

Eek! When are you going that Southwest cancelled the nonstop from MDW to SNA? I had my flight time changed, but as far as I can tell it's still available as a nonstop flight.

(Sorry for the OT response, but this one had me panicked after all the planning I've done.)

Make sure you check with them for what size car seats you need. I requested three high back boosters and he said they only had one high back and two low back.

we have used Lansky for our LAX to Grand Californian. Everything went smoothly. We were met a baggage claim. into the car in no time.

Next week - specifically, we are flying on February 6. They didn't cancel it, per se, but they changed it to a flight with one stop in SFO. I really didn't want to do that with my four-year-old in tow, so we called and said that for the same price they needed to get us another nonstop from Chicago to the Anaheim area. Hence the flight from MDW to LAX!

On the transportation topic, our likely verdict is Uber since the car service is twice as much. (Uber Estimate says $38-50 one way LAX to Disneyland, so that could be up to $100 total round trip, while the car services are around $200). With my foundation discount, we could also do a one-way Enterprise car rental twice (LAX to Hilton Anaheim and vice versa) for around $100 total, and DH really likes that idea, so that option is on the table.

With the knowledge that you have to take a shuttle to the car rental agencies I'd go that route. Traffic is fast then slow then construction-filled and many different highways along the way, but with a good navigator and a good driver it's just fine.

Well, unless you bring your own car/booster seats, using a Taxi/Uber/Lyft is against California Law. (Children under 8 need one).

We will have a booster seat with us for sure! Last time we flew, she was two, so we did the car seat on the plane and then used it in our rental car. She's now four years old and over both 40 inches and 40 pounds, so although she rides in a five-point harness seat at home, I've purchased a booster seat for this trip. She meets the requirements and it will be nice not to lug the whole seat around!

Another vote for Lansky. They also offer discounts for repeat customers.
