We ate dinner at Le Cellier on the second day of our trip (Friday, August 6 - 5:00pm reservation). I was surprised by the large number of empty tables (at least 15% of the restaurant) when we arrived, and a lot of those tables remained empty for our entire meal. When we left, the desk was accepting some walk up reservations.

We stayed offsite, but we ate at numerous resorts (and parked at those resorts).
The security person never once asked for any information about our reservations (I simply had to show a picture ID) at dinner or at breakfast. We did not receive any three hour parking pass at any resort (including at the Contemporary, Poly, BC, YC and BW). It would be very easy to simply park at the resorts all day and go to the parks. In years past (when we stayed onsite), I regularly received the 3 hour pass or the security person checked my reservation.

Though they stagger the seating likely they had a lot of no shows and they have to hold the reservation for 15 mins beyond the time. People double/triple book. I wish they took a credit card to secure the reservation as do some of the others in Disney to be sure folks really are serious about the booking!! Not everyone ventures out to try their luck at a walk in....which by the way, I have been able to do 3x in the last 4 months.:confused3

We were able to book ADRs at Le Cellier last Aug for free dining. I couldn't get a dinner ADR for the life of me but managed to get a lunch one. I explained to DH how hard it was to secure a ressie. I explained how there were no evenings one available - we don't like having heavy lunches in that August heat.

So when we went to Le Cellier for lunch, at 11:55am, the restaurant was half full! I am not kidding .... DH thought I was nuts about all the pretense to how hard it was to book that place! When we left at 1pm, it was not more full. I couldn't explain it and I couldn't believe it!
