Two Stays: Annual Pass for one, regular tickets for another---MagicBand problem?

I will be staying on property in the fall and using my AP for park admission. I have already booked a package for summer (AP will have expired), and a regular ticket pass is part of that package and is already linked to my MDE account. Is this going to be a problem? Will my Magic Band "know" to use my AP for admission in the fall and save the regular tickets for next summer, or do I need to do something proactively to ensure the right medium gets used?

1. First point of order, your MagicBand does not figure into this at all.
Everything relating to FP+, parks, resorts, etc. is stored in your MDE account.
The MagicBand is just a way to access the tickets and information while you are visiting WDW.

2. You can make FP+ simply based on the fact that you HAVE valid tickets linked to your MDE account. So, if you have a "regular ticket" that has, say, 6 theme park days on it, you can book FP+ for 6 theme park days. If your AP expires during the time before your trip, as long as you still have (in my example) 6 days' worth of tickets, your FP+ will remain as-booked.

If you have both the AP and the "regular ticket" in your MDE account, and you want to use the AP during your first trip, go to a Guest Relations before entering the first park and have the CM set the 'PRIORITY" of your AP to the highest priority. The highest priority ticket will be used first.

1. I do consider the Magic Band a factor, though not in the way you mean. Here's what I'm saying: if I had an Annual Pass on a card (like in the old days) and a MYW ticket on another card (also like in the old days), I would choose which one to scan when I go through the gate. I would scan the AP while it was good, and then when I go back next summer, I would scan the MYW ticket. It's two physically separate tickets. With the Magic Band, I currently have an Annual Pass AND a two-day base ticket linked to my account, both of which are then connected to my Magic Bands. I want to know how the system will know to use my Annual Pass to admit me this fall, saving my two-day base ticket for next summer. I don't want to "burn" the MYW tickets by accident.

2. I'm not too worried about Fastpasses, just the admission.


From your response, it looks like your advice about "priority" is what I need to ensure the tickets are used in the order I want. Thanks!

I think you don't understand what I'm saying: I KNOW MBs do not work the same way. I KNOW that they are linked to MDE. I KNOW that a MB is not like a ticket. I GET IT. The fact that they aren't like the cards in the old days is exactly the point of my question, which Robo answered. They ARE a factor, in that I have to take a special step because of them in order to ensure my tickets are used in the proper order. With the old system, I would not have had to take this extra step. No big deal. Just happy to know the answer. Thanks, Robo.
