Two Sisters finally get to go to WDW together! - TR has started!

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for nodol! Hope her DH's fever breaks soon and things start getting better.

Prayer and positive thoughts that nodol's DH gets better soon!

nodnol - I hope your husband gets better soon. Stay healthy!

I agree with you on the photopass. I was torn about getting it before our last trip. At the end of the day, I'm glad we didn't. My mom never smiles (or rarely does) in pictures, then gets upset when she sees them. She really looks grim. So we only ended up with two pictures that I had printed - one of them was free with the package we booked. So the CD would definitely not have been worth it. I like your camera - I have a sony (very similar to yours, I think, but a few years old).

I'm sending positive wishes for Nodnol's DH to get better soon! I also hope you enjoy yourself on your trip to Nuernberg!!

Keep us updated and best wishes,
Heather

Oh dear...:confused3,

Floss-I'm glad you let us know about Nodnol and her DH

I know that she must be very worried about him...it really seems that everyone is so sick recently...but I'm sure that his fever will break and he will get better...sometimes it really does take a little bit of time to get better...many of these infections are tough on the immune system.

I am sorry about the trip to Nuremberg...I hope everything works out...:guilty:

Sending good thoughts and wishes across the Atlantic...

Please tell Nodnol that we are thinking of her and her DH.

Thanks to everyone for your nice posts - nodnol found my post and the first of yours yesterday evening and she was rather touched. I think we manged to put a smile on her face! And she should soon have a small trip planning update! :goodvibes

Prayers for better health for nodol and DH! I hope you are able to enjoy the weekend anyway!

thank you! I decided to treat myself to some new cloths as a compensation for the missed trip :goodvibes and I'm sure Flossbolna will enjoy the good food at our aunt's house even without me ;)

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for nodol! Hope her DH's fever breaks soon and things start getting better.

 for nodnol and her DH :(

I hope nodnol's DH feels better real soon. :goodvibes

TripleP, thank you for your kind words - it's a pity I couldn't got to Nuremberg with Flossbolna, because we wanted to discuss our ideas for DLP for your trip :( But I'm sure we'll find time to talk about it very soon!

Hello everyone,

thank you for all the wishes and prayers – they might have helped DH's temperature didn't rise over 37.8 degrees celsius since yesterday evening, my calculator states that is about 100 degrees fahrenheit, which is great. Unfortunately he now developed quite a hard cough, tears in eyes and everything. The doctor said that on top of the influenzal infection (that's the term my dictionary came up with) he got a bronchitis. He has never been so long sick since I know him, which is 10 years, so it all is new to us and DH is very fed up with being ill for more than a week now. He even missed a concert of his favorite singer Morrissey... but, well - so Flossbolna had a chance to see Morrissey live for the first time :lmao:

But let's get on to the good news: As my boss had already signed my day of for today I decided to not got to work, even though I didn't go to Bavaria with Flossbolna. As I keep myself quite busy with work and volunteering for to organizations, I tend to "neglect" or neverendingly postpone some tasks. So today I finally picked up my new passport and we can tick this off from our list:

Reisepass.jpg

The small symbol on the bottom stands for the electronic chip where they saved all my data – so I have a high tech passport now...

And I have two more pictures for you, I guess Flossbolna will post about her trip to Nuremberg, so I won't tell you all the details. But I found these pictures of a trip to my aunt about three years ago. The type of Christmas cookies we traditionally bake with our aunt are not very common in Germany – I don't know any other family who prepares them. The dough is made of eggs, flour, powdered sugar and ammonium carbonate, they don't really taste very interesting. The special thing about them is that you need molds to form them.

Baking the Springerle, as they are called, is a tradition we took over from our mother's step mother. When we were kids, we visited our grandparents and prepared Springerle with our grandma. Our mother's mother died shortly after giving birth to her and our grandfather remarried, when our mother was eight years old. So for our mother and us she was the only mother or grandmother (no horrible stepmother stories to tell!). All the old molds, some are really old, Flossbolna knows more about their age, belonged to our grandmother and she passed them on to one of her “real” daughters (don't really know how to explain this – our mother has four step-siblings). Which is alright for everyone and gives us a reason to visit our aunt and goddaughters at least once a year!

On the pictures you se the molds or forms and then Flossbolna cutting the edges after taking the dough of the molds – they are not ready yet, they will sort of pop up while drying and baking. I hope Flossbolna will have a picture of a baked Springerle for you.

Wonderful Springerle post! Thanks for that! :goodvibes I actually speicifically packed my camera to take a few pictures of our work. :thumbsup2

Those molds seem really neat!

I can't wait to see more pictures.

My mom does a Cookie Day every year for all of the little girls in our lives. My Mom had my brother and I when she was quite young so a lot of her friends and our relatives have younger kids. So one day in December for the last 6 or 7 years, she invites all the little girls over and we decorate cookies and gingerbread houses. It's so much fun. :goodvibes

That is a really wonderful tradition! For me, I guess, baking the cookies is more important for christmas than eating them :)

In two months at this time we will be sitting at the airport in Frankfurt waiting for our flight to Orlando! :cool1::cool1:

I will try to post an update on the cookies, trip planning and Disneyland in 1992 during the weekend!

nodnol and I will have some time to chat about the trip this weekend. They can't travel to see her in-laws as orginally planned since her DH is still ill. The final diagnosis is swine flu followed by pneumonia! :scared1: At least he finally started to feel better, but he is still far from his normal self.:sad2: None of us can understand how nodnol managed not to get infected, too. Let's hope it stays that way! :thumbsup2

Oh no! I'm so sorry about nodnol's husband. I'm glad he is finally starting to feel better.

TWO MONTHS!! :yay: :dance3:

Oh no!!! I hope he's feeling better soon and nodol stays healthy! And :thumbsup2 to only two months!

I'm so glad that nodnol's husband is finally starting to feel better. Let's hope that she stays well. pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Oh dear! ...:sad2:...what a lot of illness to deal with...I am glad that Nodnol's DH got a diagnosis though and it sounds like he is on his road to recovery...:goodvibes (I will keep my fingers crossed for Nodnol...but it sounds like she is going to be ok...she may have developed an immunity...-

(Just be aware...I had walking pneumonia two years ago...after a couple of other illnesses -and it took a bit to feel like myself...even when DH is better...it may take him a month or even more to build up his strength to his usual self...pneumonia really can beat you up...so don't be worried if he still feels tired and not 100%...he may still be a little more tired than usual even at Christmas...BUT he will get back to normal-just slowly...:goodvibes)

Thank you for showing the springerle molds...:) They are very charming...

(We have a bakery near us that makes German cookies for Christmas and I sometimes buy some springerle because I think they look so pretty (I've never cared for the taste so much but I always thought it was just this bakery...:lmao:...now I know maybe they all taste like that...;)

Hoping everyone stays well...:goodvibes
