Two Rooms?

So family of four but with two who cannot share a bed (my 10 year old is autistic and has to be surrounded by stuffed animals and weighted blankets as part of his bedtime rituals and my 15 year old DD has a bad tendency to hit and kick in her sleep- last time we tried this I ended up very bruised).

Currently booked at a One Bedroom villa at BLT for May 2018 but I am considering two rooms at another deluxe. When booking two rooms are they always next to each other? I know connecting rooms are limited but I would hate to end up across the resort from each other.

Does anyone have any insight?

Many of the deluxes have two queens and a daybed, so if one of your kids can sleep on a twin size mattress you should be okay in a regular room. The day beds are comfortable and just like a regular bed. Not all deluxe rooms have them so you may need to do a little research, but maybe all at the poly do?

We've done two connecting rooms many times. Every time we request the connecting rooms they tell us they can note our request but it's not guaranteed - but we've always gotten it. FYI make sure you say "connecting" (internal connecting door) rather than "adjoining" (next to each other). Also you can contact the resort a few days you arrive to reiterate your request. That's said, we've permanently switched from two connecting rooms to the 1 bedroom suite at BLT because it's cheaper, we love the full kitchen and washer/dryer, king bed for us instead of a Queen as at many resorts, and walking distance to magic kingdom!

I'd go for a family suite at AoA in your situation. Two deluxe rooms with no guarantee of connecting sounds quite pricey. Your austistic child can sleep in the murphy bed and your daughter in the sofabed or vice versa. Both beds have plenty of room (though comfort levels might vary).

As kcpinwdw pointed out, some deluxe rooms do have the additional twin sofabed. But if you really need the room division, I'd go for the family suite.

Connecting and adjoining rooms are not guaranteed. Personally, I wouldn't risk booking two rooms with your family configuration because of this.

If you don't need separate rooms, I would consider booking 1 room at Poly or CR where you will have two queens and a daybed. The daybeds are quite comfortable, IMHO. Or consider a two bedroom villa at any villa resort that interests you. That would get you, at the very least, a king, a queen and two pullouts.

How long are the daybeds? My daughter is 5'11" and I cannot picture my son being able to squeeze in all his needed plushies on a daybed. One reason I was considering the move to two rooms is I was a bit concerned about my daughter on the twin sleeper chair at BLT. She tiny but very long.

I second the 2 bedroom villa. Not only will you pick up the extra beds, you'll gain an additional full bathroom, and everyone will be together guaranteed.

Never mind. Just noticed your post where you mention the sleeper chair. Why don't you see if you can find out the dimensions of that before you book two rooms, especially since connecting isn't guaranteed.

No need for a 2 bedroom if she is in a 1 bedroom at BLT - it has 2 full bathrooms already. OP, my teen boys sleep perfectly fine in the sleeper chair at BLT and both are 5' 11". We have stayed there many times. I would not think of giving up a 1 bedroom at BLT for a family suite at a value resort.

With the BLT 1 bedroom, you get 3 sleeping spaces, 2 full bathrooms, full kitchen, balcony and a washer/dryer. No family suite or connecting rooms can even compare to what you already have booked :) Plus - the best perk is that you can walk to the MK - priceless after fireworks!

The daybeds are about the size of a twin.

If you book two rooms and you don't get connecting, you and your spouse will need to split up for your stay. You can't have two younger persons in a room without at least an 18 yr old in the room with them. Getting connecting rooms is just a request and not guaranteed. Go with the BLT one bedroom. It will work out nicely with the queen sleeper sofa for your 10 yr old with all the sleeping stuff and your daughter with the twin sized sleeper chair. My 6'2" son has slept on those a few times and was comfortable.

Actually they will guarantee two adjoining rooms when all the guests in one room will be under the age of 18. We needed two rooms when we took my son and two of his friends to WDW for the weekend when they were 13 and 14. My understanding was that they could not guarantee the adjoining rooms but when I asked about teenagers being alone in a room the CM told me in that case they DO guarantee the adjoining rooms. In the past people have told me this isn't correct and the CM didn't know what she was doing but I called WDW several times prior to that visit to try to get separate ADRs for the boys, ask about whether we would be able to tell who charged each purchase, etc and every single time I called each CM I spoke with made a point of telling me that our adjoining rooms were guaranteed without me ever asking about it. I'm sure it's due to liability issue of not having an adult in the room so they essentially "expand" the room. It was a nice surprise for us, certainly not something we expected, and it worked out very well.

No, there is no guarantee you will get connecting rooms. Even with two adults age 18 or older with one in each room. There was a poster on the DIS who had four younger kids and only one adult aged 18 or older and she didn't get connecting rooms until later on in her stay. Do not plan on getting connecting rooms ever. No matter what the CM on the phone says. Most likely, that CM hasn't been to WDW and isn't even in Orlando.

This.

I guess all four or five of the CMs I spoke with had no clue? You would think at least one of them would have seen the note about a guaranteed connecting room on our reservation and informed us that was NOT actually a guarantee instead of all repeatedly telling me they were guaranteed each time I called without my even asking about it. They all told me they were guaranteed and even at check in the CM reiterated that we had guaranteed connecting rooms, and we received them. I never planned nor assumed we would get connecting rooms - the CMS all told me we would because we would have minors in a room without an adult. In fact when I requested connecting rooms, I even said I knew they could not guarantee them but was corrected by the CM.

We use the daybeds all the time at the CR, Poly or the BC. Each of our kids love it. My son is younger but at the time he used it - he was at least 5'9" and a pretty solid weight and he loved the daybed. And I bet you can get all the stuffed animals on it - it is not a small bed. I will see if I have a picture of it.

Unfortunately, yes.

We went through the same thing our first trip where we had 2 adults and 5 kids under 12 years old. We were told by at least 5 phone CMs that yes our connecting rooms were guaranteed. Our paperwork said guaranteed connecting rooms. But when we arrived to rooms in different buildings we learned how wrong the phone CMs were.

Our second trip with the same group we again requested connecting rooms and again were told multiple times they were guaranteed. I tried telling them they shouldn't keep telling guests that when it's not true. They all insisted they were. I wish each one of them could have been with us at Check In. At least that time we were in the same area but different floors.

Actually, they might say this and be right - because adjoining rooms are not connecting rooms. Also, given that your party appears to include a minimum of two adults - as indicated be the use of the word "we" - this unsupportable 'guarantee' doesn't apply.

Any room contract you have with Disney* indicates in its Terms and Conditions that the actual only guarantee is a room.

*Any hotel, really, but we're talking about WDW resorts. Doesn't matter what the company representative(s) state to you, or even what any e-mail or paperwork you have says.

You really can get a good deal in room-only reservations for a 2BR at OKW. We've had one 25% discount and one (gosh, so great!!!) 40% discount in the past. We never do DDP so it works for us. Tons of room and there are two queens in one bedroom (will fit both your kids) and a king in the master. Plus two full baths and plenty of living space.

The daybeds are about the size of a twin.
I have heard they are shorter though.... and that only a smaller size adult fits.. dont have the dimensions.. I have had them and thought myself as a larger adult.. plus size and 5 7 no way I would fit there.
