Two Rooms?

One thing that may have affected the "guarantee" we were given is that we were traveling with all teen boys. The only way to make the bed situation work was to have my DH and I in the same bed, otherwise we would have had some variation of an adult trying to sleep in the same bed with an adult sized teen boy and it would have been extremely awkward to have an adult female and unrelated teenage boy showering and getting dressed in the morning in the same small space. The only configuration that made sense was for my DH and I to share a bed, my son to sleep in the other bed in our room and the two unrelated boys to each have a bed in the second room.

In any event, it did work out for us that trip in spite of us not necessarily needing the room to be connecting from our perspective (just more convenient and I wasn't sure about what WDW would legally allow) - the teen boys were all very responsible guys who had already been living on their own away from home for full time ballet training and were fine without adult supervision for the trip. It would be a serious bummer, however, to think you were going to have either two connecting rooms or rooms fairly close together only to find out you will be in completely different area of the resort - it would definitely not be the way you want to spend a family vacation.

No, there is no guarantee you will get connecting rooms. Even with two adults age 18 or older with one in each room. There was a poster on the DIS who had four younger kids and only one adult aged 18 or older and she didn't get connecting rooms until later on in her stay. Do not plan on getting connecting rooms ever. No matter what the CM on the phone says. Most likely, that CM hasn't been to WDW and isn't even in Orlando.

Disney should really figure out their policy on this.. I'm having a DFTW next April and just booked 2 rooms at the GF with a request for connecting rooms the night before the wedding. When I asked my room block coordinator about the likelihood of us getting connecting rooms, she told me the only way to guarantee it is if the reservation is for 2 adults and 3+ kids, which is an automatic guarantee for connecting rooms. It's unfortunate if families are being given this information and show up with rooms no where near each other. Especially if it's their first visit or they don't do much research on what to expect.

It is unfortunate and I'd wish they would stop telling people there is any way to guarantee connecting rooms. With the way Disney handles reservations, it is impossible for them to guarantee connecting rooms. They simply don't know what inventory they will have ahead of time.

As others have stated, not accurate. With two adults and two rooms, each adult can stay in a child-occupied room.

I don't know if your wedding coordinator can help, but that's who I'd ask.

It's not really a problem for us because it's just the two of us and we know it's not guaranteed. I just thought I'd add to the conversation of CM's giving out misinformation regarding the guarantee of connecting rooms. Although I would like to believe someone working for group hotel reservations would be giving out accurate information regarding group hotel reservations.. but you never know :confused3 Anyway, here's hoping we get our connecting rooms for the night before our wedding :worship:
