1) Do you feel a sway of the boat when in port?
2) When you go to castaway private beach is it only one Disney cruise boat there at a time, or is it possible there may be many?

1. No - you usually do not feel a sway in port.

2. Only 1 ship at a time at CC. There is only room for 1 ship to dock.

Yes, when you get off the ship and are on dry land, your body sometimes feels the sway and it can last for awhile. We have been home from vacation for a week, sometimes longer and I can still feel it.

Your ship will be the only one at castaway. :)

I felt the sway in port, and for a long time after I got home, actually. It wasn't fun, but from what I read around here it's the exception, not the rule. My DH did *not* feel the sway in port at all.

For #1, do you mean can you feel the ship moving when it is docked at a port? If so, then the answer is not really (or at least I have never felt it move once it was docked).
If you meant, do you feel like you are still moving once you are in port and back on dry land? Then that is definitely yes for me. I feel it for up to a week afterwards (it lessens up every day).

After our upcoming Alaska cruise, we are taking the train home (2-day trip). It will either counter act the swaying from being on the ship or make it 10 times worse :rotfl2:

I thought somewhere I'd seen a pic of 2 at CC

You may have seen a picture of a second Disney ship sailing by, but they do not have the facilities to have two ships there at the same time. We were on the Wonder one cruise and were at CC one cruise when the Dream sailed by. I've got pictures somewhere....
Ahh, found it. This was shot on 5/7/13 from Serenity Bay on Castaway Cay.

They arranged the shot with the Dream and Fantasy for promo pictures, but only one was docked.

:) Just remember that Amtrak is notoriously late. The longer you go the further behind you will be. I remember taking the train from Seattle to San Jose and met a couple who went from Seattle to San Diego all the time. Except that the train was always SO late into LAX that they had never once actually caught the train into San Diego, and every single time had to be bussed. Don't put anything important or uncancellable on that first day you intend to be home!

I don't like the movement I feel on the ship when it's docked. I prefer the feeling of sailing.

Yep, the train is definitely just for the fun of riding the train (DS is a train fanatic) and not for getting anywhere quickly. We have a bedroom suite booked so that we have a little room to stretch out. That is why we are flying to Vancouver and waiting to take the train on the way home. Scenery-wise, you see better stuff during the daylight on the way from LAX to Seattle, but we weren't going to risk being late on the way to the cruise ;) :thumbsup2

I have been watching the train status for our route for a while now. In the last 4 weeks it has been late 8 times (with the longest being about 3 hours late). But we don't have anywhere we need to be after LAX so no worries if we are behind schedule. I might not be able to get DS off the train anyway :rotfl:

We have done LAX to San Jose (and back) quite a few times and it was always on time (much to my DS's disappointment since he didn't want to get off the train, LOL).

You Tube has this answer. The picture of the day will also give you and answer.

I actually felt the boat sway the most at Port Canaveral. I actually got very sick at the Sail Away party because of it and had to go back to my room! (Seriously, it was the sway. I only had one sail away drink!)

The funny thing is, once we set sail, my nausea went away immediately. I didn't even know it had happened. One minute I'm lying face down in our cabin, the next minute I'm thinking, "Wait, I feel better. What happened?"

I think the CC question has been answered, but wouldn't it be fun to have a Castaway Cay party with all 4 ships at the island at once?

Yes all of this. :thumbsup2 We were on the same cruise.
