Two questions .. 1st time at FW

We are booked for March and will be driving all night from the Houston area. We were wondering how good they were about honoring early checkin requests ??? We plan are being there about Noon or 1pm.

Also, how early can we catch the ferry to MK for Early Entry?

Hi,

Check in really isn't till 4pm, so the later you can try to arrive the better the chance you'll have that a cabin will be available when you do get there. It takes alot of time to clean this things when guests check out, so try and be patient. The front desk will certainly give you a cabin if one happens to be clean and available by the time you get there. However, if the cabins aren't ready you can certainly leave your things and hop over to the parks after you check in and pre-register. And, you may pre-register at anytime, even at 7am in the morning! You might want to also look into renting a golf cart or bikes during your stay as it certainly makes getting around the campground much more convient!

I should have clarified .... We'll have our Travel Trailer with us.
We won't be staying in the cabins. Do you our chances for early ckin could be better ????

Check in for you is 1 PM. If you are there earlier and your space is open, you will be allowed to check in earlier.

We've never requested an early check-in and have been able to get a site as early at 10 a.m. However, we got there once at noon and had to wait in the main parking lot till almost 1:00. We didn't mind waiting, we got our fanny packs ready and had lunch.

I would think if you've requested an early check-in you should have no problems. Most rv'ers like to hit the road early and it only takes about 7 minutes to get a site ready.

To answer your other question - the boats to MK start running about 20 minutes before opening time!

hey, we have arrived at FW every year by 11am at the latest and have never had to wait to get into a cabin or camp site. The last 4 trips have been during easter/spring break and it hasnt been any trouble.

if you want a golf cart as mentioned in another post, call at least 90 days ahead and reserve or you can just forget about getting one. FW bike barn 407 824 2742

The time you can check in will also depend on the day of the week. The middle of the week is a little slower, so more sites are usually available.

I have checked in as early as 8AM on a Tuesday.

For early entry to MK we just barely caught the boat at 7:30am last month. From there it picks up at FW. We got to the gates at 7:55 for 8am opening.

Cheryl, we camp at Ft Wilderness often. We have never had any trouble getting in no matter what time we arrived. We are packing our motorhome today for our trip there in fact. We check in this Sunday (1-18 until 1-27). We are so excited as always. You will love Ft Wilderness. We would love to live there to tell the truth. We usually plan our next trip there before we even leave. Have fun and enjoy.....we are almost neighbors..we live in Spring by Old Towne.

Last year was the first year we had to wait a significant amount of time. I think the site was empty but they just hadn't gotten the clearance that it was cleaned.

Anyway, to be on the safe side ... have your swim things handy and just pre-register (they will give you a number you can call to get your site # when ready) and then either take the bus to the pool or go down to Trails End for lunch!!

We made the mistake of having our swimsuits packed somewhere in the camper and it was really hot when we got there. I've learned my lesson!!
