I think I may finally be able to take my niece to Disney World.

Maybe

possibly

I hope...

I've been booked for August 16-20 for free dining and I have been slowly paying it off. My DBF and his brother will possibly be joining me. We may even take a side trip to the Everglades and Kennedy Space Center.

I'll come back in a bit to start making updates!

Me :yay: (32)

I love all things Disney. I listen to Disney podcasts all day long. I am a frequent visitor to the DIS. I managed to keep my Disney under control until I returned to the World in 2007. It has simply gotten worse since then. I am constantly trying to find new opportunities to visit WDW. It got to the point where I registered and ran (wogged) the Princess Half Marathon this past March. I am also registered for the WDW Marathon this coming January.

DBF :sulley: (31)
My sweetheart. He enjoys WDW. He tolerates the many trips in order to make me happy. He has been know to complain on the three Dinsey trips that we took when we didn't take his brother. I can forgive him, but I may need a solo trip to make up for the guilt that gets laid on me when we don't include his brother.

DN princess: (13)
My goddaughter. She is actually a cousin's little girl, but I grew up with her mother, so I am Auntie to her. I'm not sure if she has ever been to WDW with her mother, but this will be her first trip with me. She turned 13 this year and this is a combo Christmas, Birthday, Easter, Christmas present. She is a lot like me as she loves that fantasy world. She eats like a bird and when she does eat is it mostly junk food, so I am a bit worried about the dining plan with her, but I plan on probably splitting counter service with her to make out meals last a little longer.

DB :stitch: (12)
DBF's younger brother. This will be his 3rd trip to WDW. He previously went to DLR in 2004 with his Dad and cousins. I'm not positive he will be joining us, but I will know for sure in a few weeks since full payment is due on July 1. He loves Disney Quest so I will probably have DBF upgrade their tickets to include waterparks and more.

That's it for us. I don't plan on adding anyone. There is a chance that DBF and DB won't go. They have to make up their minds soon.

Her choice.

I think we will be leaving that day. I am booking our flight very soon. I may add a day at Sea World and stay another night off property, but I don't know for sure yet.

So, it may be just myself and my niece on this trip. DBF is being difficult. He would like to do to the parks for the holidays. I've already booked us for the Podcast Cruise for December 2010 and he will get to see the holiday decorations then. I just haven't told him about that.

He did make a valid point that he will be hot and tired in the August heat. I reminded him that this would be the only time I can take DN since her mom doesn't want me to take her out of school for a trip. He said that I could just go with her.

Ok.

Fine.

I will.

So I am trying to get my packaged change to have only the one day ticket. That way I could still get free dining for DBF and DB if they end up coming. I have until July 1 to convince DBF to change his mind.

Thanks for joining me Vallie!

Invite your friends too!

:)

Has anyone read Kathy's (safetymom) blog about the Wishes dessert party?

I'm thinking about doing this for one night. I think it looks really fun (and yummy!). AND we won't have to fight the crowds for a view of the fireworks!

If I do this, we will do it on August 17. After dinner in Epcot and a bit of exploring the World Showcase, we will return to the Magic Kingdom for Wishes and the Dessert Party. That would make more sense and we can watch Illuminations on our other night in Epcot.

Any thoughts?

This past weekend I bought DN a pair of Beach Crocs in Lime Green and a pair of Athens flip flops in Lime and Pink. Do you think she'll fit in with the DIS? I might have to look for a Lime bagallini for her.

We are paid for! As of yesterday, I paid off the balance of the trip. I booked our tickets for the flight there and I am still looking for the best deal/time for the return flight.

It will just be me and DN. DBF and DB have decided not to go. DB didn't have the best grades this past year and DBF does not want to deal with the heat and the humidity of the summer. Next time he goes will be in December 2010, he just doesn't know it yet.

I haven't decided about the dessert part, but I think I will do it. I'll wait until my return flight is booked before planning on the party.

Also, I have some friends that live in Sarasota that may be up there at the same time. One is a doctor and has a conference in Orlando. I'm waiting to see if they will be there at the same time or not.

So I haven't booked the dessert party yet, but I thought I'd change the name to try to generate more interest.

Oh yeah, I also bought DN a copy of Birnbaums. I'm sending it to her along with a gift that I got in Arizona. I told her on her birthday that I was trying to take her to Disney this summer, but when I told her yesterday that the trip was finally paid for and asked her if she knew where I was taking her, she didn't know/remember.

So now she has to wait until she gets the book to see where she is going. I'm going to tab the book with where we are staying and where we are eating. I'll ask her if she has any input so that I can make any necessary changes to the dining plan. The only ones I'm worried about are the Coral Reef and Chefs de France. I picked Coral Reef because I think she'll enjoy the atmosphere and Chefs de France because I speak French and she took it this year in school. I think she could find something to eat on any of the menus, but from what I recall, she isn't a big fish fan. She is also picky... soooo, we'll see. I'll probably have her look at menus on All Ears and see where she would like to eat.

So, my travel agent tells me that the Wishes Dessert Party is all booked up for my entire stay.

Boo. Hiss.

So I was thinking that we may do a water park when we get there on Saturday. We get there pretty early so maybe it will be the best way to fill the day and then we can go to DTD for dinner.

Any thoughts?

Hi! :wave2: Here I am!! So, your niece is a little younger than mine. I am glad she is excited! Too bad about the dessert party! That sounds like it would be a lot of fun. How can desserts be anything but, right? Your trip is coming up soon! Lucky!! :shamrock:
