Two people, one room, one DDP?

My wife and I are going to WDW in October. We're DVC members, will be staying on DVC points and we're AP holders, so we pay for the DDP at check-in. Do both of us have to get the DDP or can just one of us get it?

Thanks!

Everyone on the reservation must get DDP for the length of the stay.

Welll....yes, but it's a little different with DVC since you reserve the room type, (studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom), rather than by the people staying in the room. When I make a DVC reservation, they don't ask me the number and names of all the people staying in the room.

I am DVC also, and yes, they do. They always ask me. And if they ask you, you will have to say "one" and give them your name only.

And if you do not put your wife on the reservation, and you get the dining plan for just you, when you get to the resort you will get a key card and she will not. If you want to attend any Extra Magic Hours you won't be able to do it if they ask for a resort key from each of you.

If you want Magical Express transportation to the resort and airport, all parties must have their names on the reservation. If her name is on the reservation, she must get the dining plan also.

If you are staying at BCV you may need a key card for each person to access Stormalong Bay.

If you don't want to use any of the above, you could try putting just your name on the reservation and going it with just one key card.

I don't know if the restaurants enforce it, but the DDP policy is that you may not share meals with people who are not on your reservation. If you are ordering a meal and splitting it, your key card will state that you have only one adult on your reservation.

All of that makes sense to me and to clarify, we're not trying to cheat the dining plan. My wife wanted to get the DDP and I wanted to just eat more in the room. However, we often split CS and TS meals when we are both on the DDP and servers have never given us any problems.

I don't know if they would give you problems or not. But when you are both on the DDP your key card would state that you have two adults on the DDP. In this case, it would say you only have one, because one of you would have to be left off the reservation. If the restaurant intends to enforce it, they'd probably say the other person has to buy their own meal, not share off the DDP user's meal. This is at TS, I don't believe CS would even notice who is eating the meal once it leaves the counter.

I can't say that would happen, but I also can't say it won't.

I'd be really nervous about having persons in the party who don't have their own key card, but you may not be.
