We're thinking of adding Universal to our WDW trip 12/12-12/19 so that we can see HP. We've never done Uni before & I want to know if we can do both parks in one day or should we buy 2 day tkts? Thanks in advance!

are you planning to stay onsite at the Darkside?

if so, the unlimited usage of the express lines will be beneficial.

if you are doing day trips from the motherland, suggest you go early, wait for park opening.
if you are driving, give yourself plenty of time as you would be parking in the garage.

the closer you get to Christmas, the larger the crowds.

to be on the safe side, think about buying a 2 day park to park ticket.

you could buy a one day two park ticket now and upgrade to the 2 day 2 park ticket once you are there in case you need additional time to enjoy both parks.

to do that you would use your purchased ticket to enter the park and then go to guest services during that day to upgrade to a 2 day ticket.

you would pay the difference between the 2 when you upgrade,.

try one day park to park and add another day while there.
make your decision then.

If you want to see all of the Harry Potter you will need both parks. We have down them both in one day numerous times, but not with the new expansion. We will be trying 2 parks one day on Nov 4. PM if you want I will let you know how it goes.

I am able to do both (well not sure now with the new Harry Potter section) in one day as I know what I like in each park. But If I didn't then I would likely try to plan 2 days this time and then going forward you can adjust.

If ALL you want to see is HP, then maybe. But everything coming out about the new HP section says that it will take longer..If you want to see both HP sections and other stuff , NO . you will need 2 days

Be aware, based on reviews/accounts from the media preview Diagon Alley is very dense with stuff to do/look at. London, Nocturne, the rides, the shows (including knight bus, Olivanders, and the other two), interactive elements in all of them) As potter fans you could easily spend half a day just there, and this is not not including the original world (Hogsmeade). The layout of Diagon is like a big figure 8, where two of the shows are is in Carkitt Market, which is a outdoor covered area that JK ROwling created to flrsh out Diagon Alley (I think it may even have A/C).

I have a feeling a lot of people trying to stuff both parks in one day are going to easily run out of time, especially the first year of Diagon and first time visitors.
