Two New Ticket Offers for DVC Members!

Question...
three weeks ago I purchased two Platinum passes at the DVC rate of $679 each before tax. They haven't been activated yet. Any chance I can go to guest services and get an upgrade to the Platinum Plus pass AND a refund of $120/ticket? :)
I called member services and they said I could, but it sounds too good to be true, so I thought I would ask the experts!

Thanks,
Stacey

I had purchased 5 Platinum Plus passes back in February ($729 each) that I haven't yet activated. Someone in another thread suggested calling Disney Ticketing at 407-566-4985 opt 5. When I did, they effectively refunded the original purchase and reissued new Platinum Plus APs at the discounted rate, refunding me $905. Originally DVC MS told me to do it face to face at the gate, but I wanted to try calling, and the phone call worked. I just asked for a price adjustment and they went right ahead and did it, no fuss.

nice...it always feels good to get an upgrade plus $ back!

I asked this question in a new thread but haven't gotten any responses, so I thought I would also ask here. Does anyone know if the new Platinum Plus DVC deal only has one price (as if a new AP) or is there a lower "renewal" price. We would be renewing from a FL resident AP.

Thanks for any advice.

You need to do it over the phone or in person. You will get the Gold Pass renewal rate. Did it today for myself and ds ;)

Thank you very much for the helpful information! I will give ticketing a call!! I would much rather get this taken care of now rather than wait until our September trip.

I am very excited!! Looking forward to getting the 13 month renewal and the Platinum Plus pass for the same price I was going to pay for just the renewal!

Water parks: here I come!

We activated our 13 month Gold AP on June 21. We are not planning on going back until next June.

I remember when they came out with the 13 month deal, Disney ended up extending the deal for renewals (allowed them through October). Do we think that they will do that with this offer? I would love to somehow get in on this deal, but I don't see how. Unless I plan on another trip before Jan. I just don't see that in the cards.

I just called and upgraded an ap to the platinum plus. Paid the $10.65 because my voucher was bought before the increase. No wait on the phone. I won't be activating it until February 2018.

I haven't seen this question asked, but am hoping someone will know the answer. If we purchase 4 Platinum passes before the end of this year and activate 2 of them now, can we then use the second set of passes to renew next year? I'm thinking that as long as we renew before 12/31/2018, we'd be fine.

Was your original AP voucher for the 13 months?
If so, did they give you the 13 months when you upgraded?

My family really needs the 13 months or I'd do this in a heartbeat (both our trips will be in the summer and we'd love to be able to visit the water parks). I'm afraid that by upgrading the voucher (before activating the APs) that we'll lose that 13th month....

I don't see why not. However you won't be renewing next year. Just activating a new pass, so not tied to that expiration date. Some folks can gain more usage depending whether they have a ticket now or not.

Hmm, reading through these posts, the 13 month thing is throwing me off and I'm now wondering if our plan will work.

We have existing Platinum APs (not PLUS) that we renewed before our trip last October, just before the 13 month deal started. While at the parks, we went to guest relations and they added an extra month on to our passes, so the CURRENT Platinum APs we have expire November 28 and are already 13 month passes.

Our plan was to renew these right at our 60 day window, which comes right before October 1, and get the 13 month deal, making them good through December 28, 2018. We'd also buy the Platinum PLUS vouchers before Jan 3 and activate them on December 29, 2018, taking us through the end of 2019 on our passes.

Now I'm wondering if we'll actually get the 13 months on our renewal passes since technically we got that deal already on our current passes. Anybody know? Also, we weren't going to bother trying to upgrade our current passes to PLUS until we go to renew, but could if it might help?

Right - the 13-month thing gets confusing.

Ok, so maybe to be safe I should activate the Gold APs with 13-month expiration at Guest Relations first.
Then (either right on the spot or after I walk through the gates), ask about upgrading to the Platinum Plus and whether that would allow me to retain the expiration date they just gave me for the Gold APs.

Anyone have advice or thoughts on a better plan?

Our experience has nothing to do with the new DVC Platinum Plus deal but does pertain to the 13-month expiration.

In early December 2016 we upgraded our Gold APs to Platinum because we were going to be at WDW on Jan. 1 & 2 and needed to "unblock" those dates. The CM spoke to her supervisor and extended the expiration date 30 days from the original March 1, 2017 to March 30, because of the 13-month offer for renewals being in effect then.

In early March we renewed our Platinum APs back down to Gold APs, and again the expiration date was extended 30 days because the 13-month deal was still in effect.

So, @The Expert and @KSL, I can't promise anything but sincerely hope that you'll both retain the 13 month expiration on your renewals/upgrades!

I was wondering the same thing.

Tried to read through the thread but I am still confused, can our Gold AP passes be upgraded to Platinum Plus over the phone, or only in person? Thank you!

I have a question about the 7-day pass dvc special for the price of 5-day pass. Our ideal pass would be a 9-day pass, (although considering the AP special too). If I purchase the 7-day pass special, how, when and at what cost would it be to upgrade to a 9-day pass? Our trip is scheduled for late Dec 17.

When you purchase a ticket directly from Disney, it doesn't get "bridged" for an upgrade. You'd lose the discount during the upgrade. So it would be kind of pointless.
