Three Things...Gratitude Thread

Buffalo wings dipped in blue cheese.
This was my first thought too - I love them!

Also seconding those who said ice cream outdoors - pure delight with friends on a sunny day!

And for my third, I occasionally make something called "egg roll in a bowl" (which is like the guts if the egg roll without the wrappers). Even using a big stir fry pan, I always seem to make a mess cooking it, but it does taste good.

Although this bedside manner was absolutely horrible my bone doctor my first bone doctor he did a great job it’s a shame he retired again bedside manner was atrocious but his work was really good

My Gen practitioner ❤️❤️ absolutely love this man - he’s a rarity because he actually listens and he’s a huge DISNEY fan on top of it he helped me out so many times on so many things with not just me but other family members

My Eye Dr - I had some weird eye facial pain one time it went on for months they couldn’t figure it out sent me to several specialist they couldn’t figure it out in my eye doctor did something that’s extremely rare he gave me his home phone number and told me to call him if I needed him his private home phone number I did need him and I did call him twice and it wasn’t a problem it wasn’t an issue and it wasn’t like I’m gonna charge you thousands of dollars because you called me at home and I had to do something for you how many doctors would do that I don’t know of any other not in my orbit

My dentist - My first original family Dentist-I had this man for probably over 20 years he was the nicest caring helpful considerate dentist I’ve ever had in my life and considering that my parents didn’t believe in dentist I had a lot of dental work I had to get done We spent a lot of time together and he was very considerate and caring

God by my faith. Dad, my Grandparents, and Champ.

A dentist I was so blessed to have and know for a few years. He was recommended to me by a church pastor friend. He and his receptionist wife retired in 2021. They truly made such a kind difference to me.

A therapist and friend at the facility who God-willing I get to re-connect with in the future. Both of my at-home therapists currently are wonderful.

Happy Thursday Friends

#1 - MY FAMILY - Mom, Dad, Grandparents have all been loving and caring people in my life. In 3 1/2 months, my mom will be taking care of me again when I get my left knee replaced.

#2 - PRIESTS - I’m grateful to all throughout the years that have listened to my confessions and gave me wonderful spiritual advice.

#3 - DH - He’s been taking care of me for almost 31 years. He’s the main bread earner, and I’m always grateful for his hard work and strong work ethic every day.

My parents/grandparents - You don't realize how good you had/have it until you see others who are not so fortunate.

Secondary Oncology Surgeon - While my main surgeon was very talented and highly regarded, it was the secondary surgeon who had the incredible bedside manner and helped me learn to care for myself after my complications.

College Friends - I will spare you the novel, but I somehow ended up with a network of guy friends in various Greek houses, athletic teams, work positions, and clubs who were tasked with making sure I was safe and properly cared for in social situations. It involved everything from keeping an eye on things while I was at bars or parties to making sure I had a safe walk or drive home. You hear so many horror stories about young girls in college but I had all of these people regularly making sure I was safe and sound.

My grandmother

She bought me my high school class ring... which is not anymore

She bought me my high school spring break backpacking tent... which has rotted away
... she did not do that for my 3 sisters

1976 when I became a discple of Jesus we went to church together every Sunday and she would make me a lunch with leftovers and a pudding pie....it was a 100 mile round trip for me

1981 when my world fell apart and I became a very resentful of the world 25 year old... she put her section 8 lease at risk.. but her community like me...so never turn us in....she was the only one who✍️ wrote to me 2-3 times a month while I was in the army and like wise I wrote back

When I return on army leave...it was her choice of where she wanted to travel

My sisters never received that adoration from her and as we matured we came to a conclusion that like the girl baby she gave up...she must have given up a boy also at birth. My sisters say that the relationship my grandmother and I had was very rare

My labor nurse and my DH were my total support system and cheerleaders when I had my daughter. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have had the natural childbirth that I wanted.

My cancer team and my DH. He drove me every day to my radiation treatments and his attitude was so positive. (Team Mickey) :)

The ER nurses when I was hospitalized with pneumonia and flu. They were so attentive and kind.

Todays Topic (Fri, 3/20) - 3 things you're grateful for about spring

(or fall if you're posting from the southern hemisphere)

TGIF Friends!

For some reason I can’t use the emojis or bold the text. One thing I’m NOT grateful for are all the difficulties with this website this year. Gripe over!

#1 - WARMER TEMPS - I’m grateful to not be freezing all the time

#2 - TREES GETTING THEIR LEAVES - I live next to a forest, and it’s nice to look out my living room window and seeing the trees look alive again.

#3 - YARD & HOUSE CLEANUP - I don’t love having to do it, but it’s so nice when it’s done. I started yesterday with picking up a lot of leaves and I’ll be doing more this weekend.

Everything is in bloom my sinuses don’t like it but I do!!
Green grass I don’t have any but my neighbors do🤣🤣🤣
Green trees 🌳
Baby animals the deer are back with their little babies
The bunny rabbits are back
All the birds are back
Sadly so are the bug bugs
WARM temps and sunshine 🌞

Admittedly, spring is my least favorite of the four. I'll spare you all the why's and try to be creative.

The memories - As much as I hated going Kosher for Passover and the years where I wasn't allowed to touch my Easter basket from my paternal grandparents because Easter coincided with Passover and the candy was forbidden...there are also solid positive core memories in there as well. From all of the seder traditions with my maternal grandparents to my paternal grandmother's artfully decorated custom eggs and house full of Easter flowers. Fun bonuses include hunting for the Afikomen (a seder tradition), all of the seder songs, dyeing Easter eggs, and Easter egg hunts.

The flowers - The house I lived in from age 4-10 had tulips and crocus planted around a dogwood tree. The house I lived in through middle school and high school had daffodils and iris. It was always a fun sign of spring when the first signs of the flowers would peak through.

Late season snow - I know most people hate this, but I always enjoyed a March snow storm as a kid. Just when you thought you were out of fun snow days...Mother Nature had a final treat in store for all of us. Not to mention a day off from school.

Easter celebrated, Hallelujah!
Easter Lilies. I always try to have at least one, and plant in my garden. June 2024

Hyacinths, DMom’s favorite spring bulb. I remember her whenever I see or smell one!
