Hi everyone! My girlfriend and I have decided to leave the husbands at home and take our 7 and 8 year olds to DLP. I have never done such a trip alone before and would love to hear any tips or advice you may have.

We are looking to go in the Spring, perhaps March or April and we will all share the same room to save on expenses. We are looking at flying from Milan, Italy on Ryan Air and then taking a transport bus to the resort. Haven't decided on a hotel yet so would love to hear your opinions on that matter as well.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I'd check out the Italian travel agencies to see what deals they offer which include travel, hotels and passes. There are usually good deals January - March but of course you have to put up with the weather which will probably be cold and maybe wet too. April is by no means a certainty weatherwise, but should be warmer.

Avoid the weeks around the Easter weekend (Good Friday is April 9 in 2004) both for crowds and cost.

If you can go for a moderate, I'd suggest the Sequoia Lodge, and for a value resort the Hotel Cheyenne. The Sequoia has a good family atmosphere and is in easy walking distance to the parks. The Cheyenne is that bit further but if you don't want to walk, there is a shuttle service.
