Two Groups You NEVER Dreamed You Would See Teaming Up!

It makes a lot of sense to me. I think the entry age for AARP is 50, and I'd estimate that a good 75-80% of their audience meets that metric. Most of the Stones were 50 30 years ago! I saw them on their Steel Wheels tour in 1989, even then there were jokes about the "Steel Wheelchairs Tour."

Gotta give RS their props. I listened to the theme song from a BBC show called “Slow Horses” last night and there was Jagger‘s voice clear as a bell. So clear I had to check and be sure it wasn’t from the back catalogue.
👍🏾

40+ years in TV. One thing I learned from who advertises is, old people have money, they are just are a harder sell. Our big advertisers in the worst economic times? Walk in bathtubs, and HVAC replacement. Products that are geared at older people who can afford a $15,-$20,000 purchase.

Does Geritol still exist? “For tired blood.”

I remember seeing a commercial yesterday on TV for AARP sponsoring the Rolling Stones. I took a pic and texted it to my DH and was like OMG you gotta see this :rotfl2:

Ron, we saw the Steel Wheels tour too, in Syracuse! I gotta say... The Stones make a pretty good case for "sex and drugs and rock-n-roll," hahaha!

Not gonna get political here, but today there was a bipartisan vote in Congress. Who'd-a-thunk-it???

Maybe I should try some.

That packaging was made in the days before expiration dates were required on items. Who knows how long those bottles have been sitting around? :scared:

Most recently saw them in 2015 at Arrowhead Stadium. Our seats were up high, just past the tree line;) After getting seated. our people watching consisted of people huffing and puffing, and sometimes taking a minute to rest on those steep stairs. Then that joker Mick Jagger comes out and puts us all to shame with the aerobics for 2 hours.

In 2019 I went to a concert with four '80's bands - I had directed music videos for three of them.

When we got there I was shocked to see so many old people there. It wasn't too long before I realized I was one of them...

But yep. AARP sponsoring a Rolling Stones concert does seem like something we would have NEVER expected.

I just checked the dates of the upcoming tour. I noticed that the Stones will be playing in an outdoor football stadium here. No overhead cover if it rains. ⛈️ Makes me wonder how many audience members are going to have their rheumatoid arthritis (or whatever is affected by humdity,) getting worse due to sitting in the rain.

Anyway, looking at the schedule, the Stones are not playing any two consecutive days in a row. There is always a space of 3-4 days in between all concert dates, even in NJ where they have two concert days at the same venue. I wonder if they need that long to recover after a concert? :scratchin
