I know this subject has come up before, but I'm looking for recent reports.

We're renting a two-bedroom in May and visiting WDW with some friends. I know it's possible to assign different credit cards to room keys, but has anyone tried to do this lately?

From what I recall, some CMs at the registration desk don't like to do this, and tell you to reassign the charges the day of check-out. Others have no problem and do it right away.

One additional problem in this case is my husband and I will probably be checking in before our friends arrive, so we'll have to try and do this when they finally get to the hotel.

If anyone's tried to do this lately, how did your experience go?

Haven't done this period, but my understanding has always been that only 1 credit card can be assigned on a reservation and then you can get a print out of what has been charged to all cards and then go back and get things divided.

I haven't even seen that they would take 2 cards. If they would, it would be a heck of a lot easier for us when we take the in-laws with us in a 2BR.

I'll be watching this thread to see if 2 cards will be taken.

Hrmm... I didn't know they could do that at all..

We were told that only one card could be put on the keys and that if charging priveledges were activiated it would be activated on all cards.... :confused3

Although I don't use the keys for charging, it still would be good info to know.

Before we purchased last year I asked my guide this question. He checked for me and reported that yes, it is possible. And I'm pretty sure a couple of memers here have reported doing it.

Hopefully someone can provide a definative answer... if you've been following the thread on the $1000 given to a member for bad info provided by a guide, you'll know that they aren't always right. :rolleyes1

I've never done two charge cards but I have put charging privileges on my room key (alone) and none on everyone else's.

I think even if it's possible in theory, you would still have to go over the charges and make sure they've been assigned correctly.

We often vacation with extended family, and we take 15 minutes to run through the bill on the last day to determine how much we want to put on each credit card. It's not that big of a hassle.

We were in this situation last May. If I remember correctly, they can put some kind of code on each key. We got a printout the night before we left and we could tell which purchases were associated with each key. We then went back to the desk and they divided it by code. I'm not absolutely positive about this (I can barely remember what happened last week) but I'm pretty sure that's how it was handled.

Yeah, each key has its own number so can get a print out and see what's been charged to each key. But I am pretty sure you can't assign some keys to one CC and some keys to a different CC.

Believe me, I'd LOVE it if they could do that...DH loves using the key when it's just our family, but when the inlaws come, that's not something we are comfortable with.

We always share a 2 bedroom with family. We could never put 2 CC on the different room keys. We were always told one credit card per room on the keys. We usually decide which family will have the room keys with charging priveleges and the other just use their regular cc.

Warning: If you can only have one credit card for charging, you may want to eliminate charging privileges on the family who doesn't own the credit card. If you choose to have all guests use the same credit card for charging, you must go to the front desk the night before you check out to get the charges straightened out. They charge the card the morning you are scheduled to check out.

The other family staying with us in a two bedroom villa (and it was a lock off), did not have charging on their room key. They used a credit card for charging instead of the room key.

I've been told twice that only one credit card can be put on a room's keys.

I was able to have only one key activated for charging, however. Only my card worked like that, the others all say "not valid for charging" . Very handy, as I really didn't want my DS17 running around with a card after he overheard there was $1500 limit on it! :lmao:

During our January trip we stayed at BWV with my sisters family. We were told we could not be two credit cards on the account. We decided to just have her keys have no charging at all and they just paid with the credit card.

I guess we need to consult with with our friends to see how they want to handle this. It sounds like they either get no charging privileges to the room key, or we split it up the night before we leave.

I honestly thought some people here had reported different credit cards assigned to different room keys. Darn, that would have made things simple.

I was at OKW in Nov. with 5 girlfriends and used my credit card at check-in because that was the only way they would handle it. Everyone had charging privileges on their card/key and it was a piece of cake to match up charges on our final bill on checkout day and then everyone took care of their own stuff. As far as not giving charging privileges to all of the adults in your party, would you really be traveling with people you don't trust????? Not me..

I heard a story on this board a while back that someone's brother in law bought park tickets or something and used the key. Then the guy was having trouble getting the guy to pay him back. We are going with about 9 other family members in May and we will all just use credit cards. Period.

If my family members were like that, I wouldn't be vacationing with them :sad2:

I just tried doing this in February @ VWL. I had a 2br and was traveling with my parents and didn't want to have all the room charges on my cc alone if it wasn't necessary. I was told that because it's one reservation, we could only use one cc. It was pretty easy to sort out who charged what on the last night, though. Each room key had a different # on it, and I held on to all my receipts so it wasn't an issue.

We did this when we paid for my parents room. They added thier card to thier room after I had settled check in.Be careful to read the papaerwork when you check out.It was all messed up. We had stuff that no one in either room ordered on the tab.
When we go alone I am always asked if I want DD (17 but looks older) to be able to charge and sometimes I do allow it but not the 13 yr old who would buy all kinds of junk.I think it depends how busy or nice the CM you get is when you check in.
