Two bedroom lock off

Hi! I was wondering how difficult it is to get a two bedroom lock off? We are going in early May and the website is showing availability of both the one bedroom villa and also the studio. I just wondered how hard the dedicated two bedroom lock off is to get. We’ve never stayed at the boardwalk so any help is appreciated. Thank you!

At BWV, when Studios are gone, so are the 2 bedrooms. There are no dedicated 2 bedrooms at BWV, and DVC does not set aside any lock off units to be reserved as 2 bedrooms. So you are competing with everyone that wants a studio.

Studios always go fairly quickly. Honestly, I'm surprised to hear you see availability for studios in early May since that is only 5 months away, and May points were recently reduced (to increase fall and early December).

At any of the resorts, the 2BR lock-offs will last as long as the studios or 1BR villas last! Once the studios are gone (and they often are gone first because of less points), no more lock-offs.

Surprisingly it is showing all three views available of the studio. We are paying cash so maybe that’s why? I’m not sure how DVC works to be honest as we usually do cash. Thanks for the info tho!

Just to clarify, this is a contradiction in terms.

A two bedroom villa is either a "dedicated two bedroom" or a "two bedroom lock-off." Not a "dedicated two bedroom lock-off."
Thanks for the terminology correction! I’m not truly familiar with all of the terms especially regarding the two bedroom villas. I’m just trying to get two connecting rooms for my family and was hoping for a guaranteed connection. Thanks!

Agree, but I think that @2tulips was asking if there were any lock offs set aside to be booked only as 2 bedrooms and not split into studios + 1 bedrooms. This may have been done when BWV was new, but it isn't done now (and AFAIK, hasn't for the past several years). Cash inventory may be different than points, though.

From these two posts, I’m assuming you’re trying to book rooms from Disney, not DVC, and you’re asking if you can book a studio and a one-bedroom and have them connecting. That seems very unlikely for several reasons. If you have the option, book a two bedroom.

So we won’t be able to get them connecting? I thought that the studio and one bedroom villa connected at BWV? There aren’t any two bedrooms at the BW and BC is all booked up on their two bedrooms otherwise I would have booked that resort.

Studios and 1BR at BWV do connect - to create a lock off 2br. So once the studios are all booked up, there are no more 2br available because there are no dedicated 2br. There are dedicated studios and dedicated 1BR, though, so that’s what you might be seeing as available for cash. Those dedicated studios and 1 BR don’t connect to any other villa and won’t ever make a 2 BR. Sorry.

You could book one of each and then ask for a “Traveling With” notation to be put on both confirmations. (And don’t make any other requests.) That lets the room assigners know that you’d like to be as close to each other as possible. No guarantee of that, but it’s worth a try.

Oh I see. That makes sense. So if you book the rooms with a request to have them
Connecting you might not get that request then?

At BWV, the only way to get a studio and a 1BR that are connecting is to book a 2BR. If Disney’s reservation system says there are no 2BR, you will not get connecting studio + 1BR. The best you could hope for would be near each other, i.e., down the hall on the same floor, and even that might not happen. Sorry.

You will NOT get that request because it does not exist. If you need connecting rooms and want BW, then look at regular rooms, not villas. There are dedicated 1BR's that do not connect to anything, it is a stand alone room with no connecting door. If a 2BR does not show up as being available, booking a studio and a 1BR will not get you the connecting rooms (making it a 2BR) you want. They will be two seperate rooms and possibly not near each other.

Another challenge is that, with a DVC booking you’re tied to the specific room type and rarely (as in, essentially never) get upgraded. With a cash booking, Disney is less strict on the room type and you might get a preferred room even when you book a standard. So, you might think you’re booking the same category, but Disney might not agree.
