Hey guys! My neighbor is planning her for trip as a dvc member. And I said Id ask a question here for her....

Shes getting a 2 bdrom and taking her parents and kids. She wants to put her kids on the pullout sofa and give her paretns the second bedroom. The second bedroom is a studio adjoined to the onebedroom right? Will they give her the key to the studio door, so her parents can come in at night without waking sleeping kids? Or should she put the kids in the bedroom and parents or herself and her dh on the sofa?

It depends on the resort she is staying at. I think all the units at BWV are 2 bedroom lockoffs so she will be fine if she is staying there. If she is staying at the other DVC resorts at WDW she will need to make sure she reserves a two bedroom lock off if she wants the 2nd exterior door to the unit in the 2nd bedroom. Typically if you book a 2 bedroom unit you will be assigned a dedicated 2 bedroom unless it says otherwise. Make sure she has specified what she wants in her reservation. If she does have a 2 bedroom lockoff her parents can enter the unit through the 2nd bedroom and not disturb anyone in the living room.

All keys will open both doors (Studio and 1BR), so they can plan the sleeping arrangements as they'd like. Since the villa is booked as a 2BR, the doors will be keyed in this fashion.

Enjoy!

We did the exact same thing over Easter. We stayed in a BR at WLV and my parents had the studio side. I requested a lock off so they would have the fridge for medication. There was plenty of room and everyone came and went as they pleased.
