I agree with this. I want sensible gun control, but by that I mean background checks and closing loopholes and holding gun owners accountable if they don't protect their firearms and they are then used in the commission of a crime. And stronger red flag laws. Would you say those things are reasonable? I believe that law-abiding adults have the right to own firearms, I just think that with that right also come certain responsibilities. And you may disagree with this, but I also think that firearm owners have an obligation to occasionally do the right thing and either give up their guns or use stronger protective measures if they know that someone at higher risk has access to them (a suicidal family member or a small child, for example).I can’t see asking every legal holding gun owner to give up their gun for this reason. If someone wants to do themselves in they will.
