My dd loves the movie Parent Trap (she likes the newer version better). She also loves twin shows-Sister Sister, anything by the Olsen Twins. Watching shows about twins makes me wonder something. How many twins actually switch places IRL like they do on some of these shows/movies? My SO has 8 yo twin nieces who look identical (but they were born fraternally). If anyone EVER calls one the other's name, they get mad. I can't ever picture them switching places.

Do you have twins and have they ever been caught trading places with the other?

My dd wishes she had a twin (I'm just thankful I had single births both times I was pregnant;)).

My friends are the "Coors Light" twins!

DH and I are scared to have kids.
Twins run in both sides of my family

I would love to have twins and they run like MAD in my family

Right now there are 8 sets of twins between the ages of 17 and 36 in my family, half identical, half fraternal. Funny thing is the fraternals don't even look like they are related!

My sister and I are 11 months apart and we are almost identical. In fact, 1 1/2 months out of the year we are the same age. My Mom used to tell us we were SUPPOSED to be twins but I waited longer to come out! And YES, we did trade places often and still can.

What's funny is my cats all think she is me. Could it be we have the same scent? That has always confused me...

Robin, my brothers are the same age 5 weeks of the year. I used to tell everyone they were twins.:teeth: My SO's great-nieces are 12 yo. They look NOTHING alike. One looks like she's 15 yo (she's blonde), the other isn't much bigger than my 9 yo (she's a brunette). People think they're distant cousins instead of twins.

I don't understand that about the cats either.

I have 7 year old twin daughters, but they are night and day in everything...Different hair color, different color eyes and skin, and totally different personalities :)

And I count my blessings it is like that :)

I thought this was an announcement of an impending blessed event!!!!!!

I have twin daughters who are now 22 years old. When they were in the fifth grade, they were in separate classes. One of their teachers thought it would be funny to fool the other girl's teacher and had them switch places when they lined up to go inside after recess. (He had been on playground duty, but the other teacher was not). They went to each other's class, but the other kids in the class gave it away and they were back in their own classes about 10 minutes later.

The next week a different teacher was on playground duty, one that neither of them had. They asked her if they could switch to try and fool the first teacher. She said OK and they did. This time none of the other kids gave it away, and they stayed in each other's class most of the afternoon. One of them even took an English test on direct objects for her sister even though her class hadn't studied direct objects yet! There were about 15 minutes left in the school day when my daughter raised her hand and told the teacher that she wasn't his student! He just laughed, said "You really fooled me!" and sent her back to her own class!

My tubes are happily tied, Gail.;)

LOL, Rollwithit.:p

LOL, Mary J.:) I wonder what your dd would've made on that test if she hadn't spoken up.:p

My sister's sons used to do this in school

I have two sets of identical twin brothers that used to play tricks on people outside the family all the time. I never could figure out how they fooled people, I certainly could tell the difference between them. :teeth:

The neatest thing I can remember about my younger twin brothers is they would have the same dreams. One would wake up in the morning, tell my mother his dream, and then the other would wake up - having not talked to his twin, and tell my mother about his dream - always the same identical dream. They have always been very close, even though they now live in different parts of the country. They seem to have a connection beyond what other siblings have, almost like ESP.

I don't think my DH ever tried to trade places with his twin sister!! ;) :teeth:

I have a sister, close in age and our voices are identical. We enjoyed fooling people.

I find twins really fascinating. Like Snoopy said...the dreams...the CONNECTION between them in really interesting. And I don't think it's LIKE ESP, I think it IS esp.

And robinrs, I think it IS the scent. We have a dog who has always LOVED my brother from day one. And my brother did his best to ignore this dog, he doesn't even like dogs. I have always theorized that our scents are similar.

I'm a twin but fraternal, we don't look anything alike and are very different. We did get called by each other's name because our names rhymed so the teachers didn't seem to keep it straight very well

My grandmother had 2 sets of twins, my mother one and my oldest brother has one. All girls and all fraternal.

I knew a set of identical twins growing up that played the switch trick all the time. One time they had cousins visit, they were also identical twins and all four of them looked alike. They had a really good time.

I have identical twin daughters that we were told were fraternal. They'll be 9 in March. Two years ago we had them DNA tested because I couldn't believe they were fraternal. They were the same all the way down to their shoe size!

They are in different classrooms at school, but the same gym class. Gym teacher gets them wrong all the time. Most of the neighbors can't tell them apart. They played softball last summer and the opposing team accussed the coach of batting a player twice - till the coach pointed out her twin sitting on the bench!

My identical twin DD's are now 19. When they were in grade school they swapped classes on April Fool's day a couple of times. When the teachers discovered it, they actually thought it was pretty clever.

my sisters are identical twins. sometimes they play it up, like when they do their nightclub act they dress alike. in college one dyed her har red and the other went very blonde, becase they wanted to be cast as different roles in the school's theatrical productions.

once, in first or second grade, they switched classrooms -- each wanted to find out about the other's teacher. they were caught, and I don't think they ever did it again.
