There is a national group but I think less and less local groups are maintaining a relationship with them due to social networking and cost savings.

The group Im in does a lot for pregnant moms once their babies are born. Gifts, several dinners and lots of support. My twins are 7 1/2 and I've been an active members for I years. My twins, husband and I have made life long friends from this group.

My answer for whether they were identical or not was the same as my mother's answer when she was asked 45 years ago about her b/g twins: No, one has a ****.

If they were a sweet old lady who was helping and being nice, I would soften it a big "they do look very much alike, but they have, well, different parts"

I will also chime in and recommend a mom of multiples group. I've gotten great support and met some amazing friends. Nobody knows what it's like to parent twins, triplets or more like other moms of multiples.

For example, only moms of multiples know what it's like to go in public and avoid all eye contact at all costs, just so you can get your errands done. Dodging Biddies I used to call it. Yes, they're twins, yes, my hands are full but my heart is fuller. No, they aren't identical, yes, I can tell them apart when they don't have clothes on. Are they natural? Well, they aren't aliens. No, I do not generally discuss my private parts in public........

My Irish twins also call themselves twins. They get asked so much they think they are even though I keep telling them are not. When we signed them up kindergarten to start this fall, the secretaries kept putting them in with my son's birthday and I kept correcting them saying they were NOT twins. I had to explain at least 10 times that Jack missed the cut off last year by 5 days and Jolie makes it by three weeks.

PP, who mentioned learning to dodge people when out, I know the feeling. I have to answer all those questions PLUS explain they aren't twins, they are 11 months apart, yes, we love it, yes, it's hard, no, my second was not a surprise, yes, I had sex very soon after my son, yes, they are in the same class, etc... and now that I have the new baby, i have to also explain that no, I wasn't done after having a a Boy and Girl, no, that wasn't the perfect family for us, yes, we planned her too, we waited a while, etc. People are very nosey!

^^^ HAHAHA! People would never ask a singleton mom if their kid was natural or IVF! I love that answer. People have actually asked ME if mine were natural? Uh, huh? They are singletons 11 months apart? How does that even make sense?

A little bit of an update. We found out two weeks ago that our twins will both be boys! Gotta say, DW and I were both a bit disappointed, we wanted one of each. But we're over that now, and getting pretty excited/worried.

DW's just shy of 19 weeks now, and just recently has been getting really bad pain in her hands. I looked this up and see that it's fairly common, but not usually this early, from what I've seen. How soon did you mothers get the joint pains, and how did you try to alleviate it?

Another mom of twins here! Mine will be 13 in October! Funny thing is I didn't know I was having twins till I was 36 weeks pregnant. Being a mom of multiples has been great.

I have got a couple laughs about people's responses to the questions about boy/girl twins being identical. Our boys are fraternal and don't look much alike and haven't since birth. One favors my side, the other my DH's side. The comments and the looks when we tell people they are twins. I have had one woman at WalMart when they were 4 months old give me the most sympathetic look and tell me to take them back to the hospital because they switched one of my babies. She was serious. Many, many people do not understand the concept of fraternal twins. And I can't tell you how many people feel it is their right to ask if they are natural. I usually say that they're not robots. Fortunately, they're almost 3 so we don't get as much of this anymore.

I am a twin myself and just wanted to add: people have nooo shame when they ask questions about twins or being twins. My sister and I have had people say "well she's prettier" or "you're a little heavier then her" etc etc. my all time favorite question was "are you twins" us: "yes" " oh so you're sisters!" *eye roll* seriously??? Unfortunately all ur twins will always deal with that kind of stuff lol there's no closer bond though! We love being twins

With our b/g twins my dh likes to say no, they're siamese! I had the joint pains in my hands 2months after they were born and saw a hand specialist who said they see this alot in new moms of multiples. Its from the repetive motion of thumbs up picking babies up with hands under their armpits. A shot of cortisol in the nerve channel in my wrists. Solved the problem for two years then had to go back when it wore off to do it again. Thankfully now that they are almost four theres very little under armpit lifting!

I don't technically have twins but I do have my nephews who are twins the majority of the time. We will likely end up legally bringing them into our family sometime in the near future. They are 13 month old identical twin boys. When I am out with them and my own kiddos I get interesting looks. I have a 12 month old daughter so most people assume I have triplets. I am enjoying reading all the stories from twin moms.

My kids are also completely different. They are best friends and worst enemies. It just depends on which 5 minutes you're watching them.

I am not sure twins get the blame for that, judging by my youth, I think that is just as common with most siblings

On a side note, I am also an uncle to twins (fraternal 10 year old girls) who had their own language when they were about 2. They would carry on a conversation including laughing and no one could understand them except each other.

My husband had a lady at Costco trying to tell him our fraternal boys were not really twins since they're not identical. His response (I wasn't there) was, "You'd better not mention that to my wife who carried two babies at once! They're twins. "

Now that they're almost 3 and looking less and less alike and vary greatly in size no one believes they are twins anymore. It's kind of nice not dealing with the asinine twins comments.

I have twin boys (in my siggie!) and they were 8lb and not quite 7lb at birth. I had a scheduled c-section at 38wks. They were huge! I ended up with complications and was in the hospital for almost two weeks, but thankfully the boys stayed with me in the really, really nice maternity ward.

Our first trip to Disney is planned for this October and they will turn exactly 3.5 during it (October 14) and I hope it goes well. They can be a little hesitant in new situations, but they are very excited about the train ride. I joke that we will spend 6hrs just circling the park.

Do most of you use a double or two single strollers in the parks? We recently started using two singles for long daytrips because they would irritate each other in the double, but I worry that two strollers will be a lot to manage.

I have 9 month old B/G twins and a 3yr old singleton. We just decided to plan a trip to Disney (why not go before we have to pay for the twins to fly and pay for them to get into the park). The twins will be 13 months by our trip. I welcome any tips/advice for best rides/things to see/do at the parks.

I had someone at Target tell me one time that they were not "real" twins because they were not identical. Ummm?? Really?? Ugh!
