I saw an interview with Catherine and she was asked why they had them by the school vs. the meadow and she said that because of the time of year they were filming and how cold it was, they could never get to a place close enough to what they were looking for and time was running out so they had to change things around...I understand that logic...things happen:confused3
That is true. They had a meadow location set up to film the scene as it is in the script. However, due to weather and not being able to secure the location, that never happened. There are actual pictures of the first meadow being set up. The 'meadow' that appears in the scene, according to Hardwicke, is not even a real meadow and just a place they had to find due to time constraints and weather issues.

What makes you think the 'meadow' is exactly next to the school? Edward and Bella went their to talk at first, but Edward carries her away quickly so she can see him in the sun. Because he runs fast, I'm betting the place where he shows himself to her and they have their moment is pretty far away from the school. Laurent could easily show up there.

::yes::

I've read the book a few times;) and seen the movie twice. I'm actually thinking of the movie as a companion to the book. I really don't think it stands too well on its own but is ok when you keep in mind all of the details and such from the book. (if that makes sense)

There were 2 main things that bugged me:

1. The meadow scene. I just don't think they did a great job with what was one of the most important scenes of the whole book. I think it was too much Edward being all cranky and trying to scare Bella away and not sweet/loving enough. I really liked the part where they were lying on the ground and she was touching him, tracing circles on his glittering skin. I think that showed her acceptance of him, his coldness, who he is and his too, by allowing here to see him and touch him. I just really think they missed the boat with that scene.

2. If I was just watching the movie (w/out having read the book) I think I would wonder WHY she fell in love with him in the first place. Yes he is very sexy but almost every time he interescted with her he was cranky and sometimes mean. You really didn't see his sweetness and protectiveness toward her.

On a positive note, I think they did a great job with vampire baseball. That was a lot of fun. I also think overall, they did a good job with casting.

I'm looking forward to New Moon. It comes out on my birthday. :)

ok ive seen the movie 4 times and Im wracking my brain trying to remember him taking her off somewhere else to show her his skin and I cant ....I thought it was all in one place...he was just moving around alot and climbed up to a particular spot to show her...Im going to have to rewatch the movie because Im lost:confused3

It's interesting to read what all you guys find different about the movie vs. the book! Like most of you, I loved the books and I really liked the movie, but again, there were parts of it that really bugged me!

Like, BELLA's LULLABYE?!?! Come on, that piece of music that Edward is playing is nothing like a lullabye. Don't get me wrong, I have the soundtrack and I love that music, but... a lullabye, it is NOT. Try humming it...?? Edward can't hum it to her to make her go to sleep. And, it ends up playing a part in the rest of the books, too.

Also another nitpick-- I really think they should have said something about Jasper's ability. It would have taken all of about 1 minute of screen time. It becomes evident in the other books again and again.

I wished the meadow scene was better, too. It was the pivotal scene in the book-- SM's dream that inspired the whole series. I think they should have played it more accurately.

OK, done ranting! Geez, how am I ever going to make it till the DVD release? :hyper: I've gone too long without a new SM fix!

::yes:: Carter Burwell wrote it when his (now wife) broke up with him, or left him, or something like that! :faint: NOT A LULLABYE! :sad2: Granted it is really pretty, but they could have done so much better.

Why does everyone say they can't hum it?! I hum it all the time! :rotfl:

Yes the lullabye. I was picturing something softer, simpler, like out of a music box. :lmao: Like a real lullabye. One that the tune is simple but can be made complicated on a piano. :confused3

I guess i am gonna have to buy the movie.

You all are sucking me in...... MIght have to make the day trip up to Forks just for the heck of it now.:rotfl:

Has anyone noticed in the scene with the guys in the dark alley, that when the men approach bella there is a figure in the background, kind of up on a walkway?

:rotfl: I did but didnt think anything of it until now. Thought it was a passerby or something. Not that anyone would stop and help her though. I'm sure. :sad2:

Know anything about it?

Ok , So I am having a hard time concentrating today and am supposed to be doing some scrapbooking things. But its not happening. I just keep reading the Dis.

So to make myself feel better. I made this. Thought you all would enjoy it. Now i have played with my new font. :)

I guess its as creative as im gonna get today. Sorry the pic is bad my camera is broken so i had to scan it. Hmm needs a little touch up. Maybe it should sparkle.

Definitely a music box kind of sound!

Great, thanks. I read that and started *attempted* humming it, and everyone in my house turned around and looked at me. :rotfl:

I was a little iffy on the lullaby at first but after listening to it numerous times it has grown on me. I really like it now. (I'd love to hear Rob's lullaby too sometime.)

although I totally love it, I agree with you both about the lullabye but I also can hum it...only because my daughter got the sheet music for it and plays it ALL the time:rolleyes2
