More worrying...

Summit Entertainment has tentatively slated Nov. 20, 2009, as the release date for New Moon, the Twilight sequel, which means any director
who signs on to replace Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke has to be in Vancouver by Dec. 15 to begin 12 weeks of preproduction before a mid-March start date. Reports have speculated that Hardwicke was fired for being difficult on set, but sources close to her suggest Summit's aggressive production schedule turned her off. "She'd love to do the sequel if she could do it better than Twilight,” says one. “It *became clear that Summit didn’t have those same priorities."

Indeed, at press time the second movie appeared to have *little more than a rough first-draft working script. As Summit’s production president Erik Feig told EW during Twilight’s *record-busting first weekend, “There is that first...script. All the finesse that turns a screenplay into a movie hasn’t *happened yet.” Two weeks later, Summit is saying it’s happy with screenwriter *Melissa Rosenberg’s progress.<

Another of Hardwicke’s primary concerns was that hunky vampire Edward remains MIA throughout New Moon’s middle portion. In her own opening-weekend interview, she told EW, “You have to get the chemistry as strong *between Jacob and Bella as it was between Bella and Edward. You also have to do *some*thing with that arc: She’s in love with somebody, he disappears, she falls in love with someone else, and the first guy comes back. Movies like Pearl Harbor have tried it. It absolutely didn’t work.”

With or without Hardwicke, Summit *faces other snags. Two sources tell EW the studio doesn’t want to rehire baby-faced Taylor Lautner (pictured) as Jacob, though Lautner’s agent has apparently reached out to the *imaging company behind The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in an attempt to demonstrate to Summit how a digitally bulked-up Lautner could work. (Summit says it won’t make a decision until a new filmmaker is on board.) There’s also the matter of finding a cast of Native American actors to play Jacob’s werewolf clan — a difficult challenge Hardwicke was also faced with before *settling on Lautner, who isn’t completely *Native American. And with a slightly increased budget of $50 million — much of which is *assumed will go to leads asking for heftier paydays, location shoots in Italy, and ramped-up F/X — Summit will have to scrimp somewhere.

So what director would want to take on such a big headache? Well, at press time, an offer was out to Chris Weitz (The Golden Compass), who put Summit on the map years ago when its foreign sales operation made tons of cash off of his first film, American Pie. (One source says Weitz has already had conversations with below-the-line crew for New Moon.) “We are in a recession,” *reminds one Hollywood insider. “It’s a hit franchise. Whoever steps into it is guaranteed a $100 million gross. Everyone wants this movie.” Adds an exec at another studio, “You’d have to have a very high standard for art, hate the movie business, and hate *money to walk off this sequel.

So I was watching Dr. Phil today, and it was about obesessions. A little girl on there is 7 anad obsessed with Elvis. Dr. P said it was fine unless it interferred in her daily life.

I think we should all lay low for awhile till the men in white coats leave.

Well there goes all my high hopes for a better film. I may only go see the second one half a dozen times... :snooty:

And how dumb to worry over the 2nd love interest and edwards absence. I don't want to spoil anything, although I doubt that would happen here so highlight here: So much of that time Bella doesn't acknowledge her love for Jacob and she spends a lot of time trying to hear Edward - which leaves room for a LOT of Edward scenes if done correctly. Not to mention how much story they have to cut anyway to fit it into a movie, which can be accomodated with a heavier focus on the beginning and end as well as Bella's escapades. I'm really hoping that they do a transparent calander over a shot of Forks, mountains and forests with the pages flipping away to show the time passing until she "re-awakens."
No, I haven't though about this at all...

You mean these guys really leave??:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: And I thought they were my friends ..LOL

OK I have to say I am really having issues with the last book I have NEVER read so much so fast and I can't put it down. I am obsessed with Edward and I want my HUBBY TO SPARKLE TOO .

Ladies I am a little worried about New Moon not making half as much as Twilight . TOO many teens are in LOVE :lovestruc  Like us with Edward . Though my vision of Edward in the book is not what Rob looks like as Edward . Anyway I would hate to see a choped up verson of New Moon just so Edward is in it more . Anyone else think they may do this ?

Also is it wrong for a mom to want a Twilight Shirt ? My girls ar 16 and 13 are so against me getting one but today in the mall there was a woman , Older then me and she had one. So should i just get it or what ? :confused3
I need to find a photo to put on my signature for Twilight I just need to find the right one . Too many to choose from

GET THE SHIRT! I love mine, even if I'm too old for it and squished into it. (I have the black Cullen Crest shirt, as does DD8 but it looks way cuter on her!) Even my boys, 17 & 15 don't think I'm that ridiculous! (Some of their friends have actually been known to refer to me as "cool" because their moms have no clue what Twilight even is!)

In the companion book, look on page 39 for the bracelet. Bella wears it throughout the movie. Not very close-up shots in this book, but on the large posters at our Waldenbooks you can see that they are religious pictures, I believe may be of Mary, or Jesus with the sacred heart.

A friend of mine pointed out this bracelet after her first viewing, because she has the same bracelet but with pictures of different saints on it. Bella's looks like it is all the same picture.

Hope I'm not way off base!

Dang! Great eyes! I can't see that at all! :scared1:

Jenn, I agree with the highlighted part completely. I am still foolishly hanging onto my hopes for a good film. I can completely understand the need for a quick turn around due to the fact the characters don't age. It's not like Harry Potter where it's okay (and even necessary) for the kids to look older with each successive film. I guess I just want it to work so bad I'm not willing to think bad things until I see it... Denial is not just a river in Egypt.

I just have a really bad feeling about all this. :sad2:

Well, at least we'll always have the books. My imagination is always better than what they can do on screen, anyway!

I think Summit is just rushing into this too much, starting production a bit later wouldn't kill anyone and the budget is just WAY too low, which just leads me to actually believe that they fired Hardwicke because she was asking for a bigger one.

We feel your pain. I am finishing up Eclipse ( for the third time) and I have to say it's my favorite after Twilight. It will make an amazing movie. I think NM has alot of potential, and would hate to see them ruin it just to put more Edward in it. I think the Italy portion will be super cool and am sure they will condense the whole Jacob being there for her to play that up.

Rob ( I can't believe it now) didn't really fit my image of Edward either, but I swear he is Edward now.

And rock the shirt. I am and I'm old and decrepit. :woohoo:

But I don't get the super rush. Worst case scenario, Jacob gets bigger. :confused3 It's not like Kristen and Rob are going to go gray anytime soon. ( although he might if he knew what I was thinkin'!!! :woohoo: )

They won't go gray, but you can see in people's faces definite signs of aging. I still look like a 12 year old to most people, but when I look at pics of myself from 19 and today (24), I can see a difference. There's only so much that make up can cover up, and you can bet that people will be all over it if they appear older!

Yea but I just don't think it's going to be that big of a deal. And even if they shoot these movies back to back, Kristen Stewart will be what, 22-23 when they finish up and Rob will be 26? There's nothing they can do about that. The kids from HP were different, kids that age are growing and changing a little more dramatically then an 18 or 22 year old.
