I am not bashing it or anything, but I just don't get the obsession with vampires! Why does everyone like it so much?

I hate it, sorry. The hype is CRAZY!! I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan so maybe that's why, I don't know.... but regardless, Twilight ain't my cup of tea.

Now sit me in front of Order of the Phoenix (favorite HP film) with Alan Rickman as Snape and I'm good to go. :goodvibes

It's ok, I wouldn't say I am a fanatic or anything. It's a great break from reality every once in a while!! I am slowly making my way through the series..I am on book #3. They are easy reads, and mind numbing, and sometimes that's the kind of book you need!

I agree about a change of pace. Don't forget the "bad boy" phenomenon we women go for. ;)

I have always been a vampire fan. I love Buffy and Angel and everything before or since.

I saw the movie and want to see it again but it isn't the best movie I have ever seen....just good fun.

My dd17...panned the books. Said they were horrible. No substance at all. That was the only review that matters to me...I think I'll skip them.

Never read Twilight. My impression is that it is for teen girls, mostly.... but I love HBO's "True Blood", but not the books that the show is derived from.

I'm in the same boat as you!! I bought the first book expecting to hate it, but loved it. I've been interested in vampires too, so maybe that's why I liked these books more then others.

I'll take Vamps over Harry Potter ANY day!:thumbsup2 I ALWAYS have been fascinated with the Vampire Culture.;)

I want to read them but they are so danged expensive on ebay, goodness! Hoping to find some used ones soon.

I'm interested in Vampires and the Paranormal so I will probably enjoy them. I'm a little worried that they will be too teenagerish though.

Twilight is a very good series, but it is not as good as Harry Potter. I think it is mostly popular among teenage girls.

I got mine at Walmart for around 7 dollars for the paperback books and 13 dollars for the two hardcover books. :)

I can't speak for Twilight as part of an obsession, however my interest in vampires lies alot in movie genre. LeStat in "Queen of the Damned" was pretty cool and the original Rice version of Lestat is better. Then you have anime.

I have read the first 3 books of Anne Rice and while I want to read more, I just picked up "Pride and Prejudice".;) I am reading about Jane Austen.

I started Twilight and I am on book 4. I would say that the direction of it was not what I expected.

Vampires are like Dr. Who "time lord" in a way, they live a long life and comparing history to modern day is an interesting concept. Esp when you contrast religion.

As far as Harry Potter, it was a work of genius to me. How she blended magic and modern day is what draws me to it. Again it ties in that history to the story. The movies are OK. I lost enthusiam to see them when I finished the books.

I need to read the Rice book, "Tale of the Body Thief" but I am on an Austen kick right now.

I agree about Twilight 4, I am kind of disappointed in the direction it is taking so far, I am still reading it after 2 months.:confused3

I'm an odd duck. I read all of the books...there was something oddly compelling about them. Something was driving me to finish it out. Perhaps it's my inherent need for closure?

However...it was perhaps one of the poorest written book/series ever and I had MAJOR problems with each book. It was maddening...to both loathe the book AND be desperate to finish them. The fourth book was what I consider the laughingstock of the literary world.

Don't even get me started on the film. *It was just ridiculous. It was like they reached into my head and pulled out everything I detested about the book and multiplied it by ten and slapped it on the screen.

Not quite the worst film ever, but definitely in my top 10 worst ever.

I didn't like four at all, and I loved the other books. I thought she tried to cram too much into it, and I won't give you the big spoiler-- but I hated that she did that! I might have liked it without that plot line.

I think one of the reasons people are so into these books (myself included) is that you can put yourself into Bella's role and feel everything she's feeling. The book is narrated from her perspective and you are in her head for the entire thing. And Edward.. Who doesn't want an Edward?! (I know there are some people who don't) But he's so fiercely protective and insanely in love with her. What drew me into it, is that it's a love story between two people that, for all intensive purposes, should not be together. But their love is what keeps them together..

But what do I know, I just got back from seeing the movie for the third time and I'm a little googly-eyed. ;)
