I kept seeing this thread as I browsed the CB. Never really opened it, though. At the end of the school year, I overheard DS's teacher talking to a former student who was reading some book and I recognized the cover. I asked the teacher about the books and she said she loved them and she gave me New Moon.

I eventually went out and bought Twilight about a week ago. Started it Tuesday night and finished Wednesday. Thankfully, I had New Moon ready & waiting. Got Eclipse over the weekend and finished it this morning.

Since I was caught up on the books, I finally felt like I could read this thread and "get" everything. So, yeah...I spent 9am to 3pm reading this thread, clicking on every link, watching every video, etc. My boys are still in their PJ's!

I don't know what it is about this series but man, I've never been so sucked into a book series before! (No pun intended!) I don't know if it's Stephenie's writing style or what. It's going to suck having to wait until Aug 2 to find out more. I may re-read the series to bide my time...

I went to twilightmoms to check that out. Unfortunately, they're not accepting new users until after the lockdown. I'll just have to lurk until then, I suppose!

I THInk somebody may have mentioned this before but I didn't put two and two together until a few moments ago.

I was watching (and I'm ashamed to admit) Disney's Sky-High, the other night (with Kurt Russel, about the High School for superheroes). And I realized who SHOULD've been cast as Jacob.

Steven Strait.

Hands down (are you listening Mrs. Hardwicke?? In the event of a New Moon film...)

If you aren't familiar with him, watch (snicker) Sky-High, he's Warren Peace, the main character's Nemesis. He's also "the guy" in 10,000 BC (which is what I think someone here has mentioned before) and was in the Covenant.

That's exactly what I was thinking as I watched that with my DD this weekend!

We are sick sick people aren't we? Grown women watching kids movies and daydreaming about the casting possibilities for a young adult book-turned movie!

And I wouldn't have it any other way!

It's funny that you mentioned this today because over the weekend DD and I re-watched The Covenant and 10000 BC and the whole time both of us would just look at each other and say..JACOB..he is just so JACOB!!!:rotfl:

Honestly..I do really like Taylor for the Twilight Jacob though.

He seems to me like a VERY young Steven Strait..and he has that very boyish quality that I pictured the Jacob of that particular book to have.

:lmao: I do have Sky High on DVD, for my kids and I have watched it before, but not in awhile. I guess it's time to watch it again! I never saw the Covenant. I'll have to get it off of I tunes.

Not sure if this has been posted here yet, but......
Did anyone else see that on Yahoo movies they have still pictures from the Twilight movie and it says to check back on Thursday for the new trailer!!!!(the pictures are ones we have all seen before but they are still fun to look at!)

Also tomorrow on Entertainment Tonight there will be a segment on the movie.

Since we're on the OT of Sky High...When it came out on DVD a few years ago, I decided I wanted to rent it. DH and I were at Blockbuster and I picked it up and sorta excitedly said, "Yeah, let's get this!" I was slightly embarassed because there were a bunch of other adults around, so I added, "You know... cuz the kids want to see it..." Well, I got the most bizarre look from DH because we don't have any kids and he thought I was completely nuts.:rotfl:

I still like that movie though.

Confused about what? There was some discussion on this thread and on the fan-boards about what the "meaning" of the cover was. Was the piece a queen or a king etc. So now we know that the piece is a white queen. the real question is who IS the queen and who is the pawn.

I got that much but I was confused on the first part of what you initially wrote...this is what you said...

the message boards are bursting with dismay, the fans having gotten their first peek at Breaking Dawn's cover. Of course they don't yet know that Meyer herself helped design the image — featuring a chessboard with a white queen piece and a hovering red pawn — or how it relates to the story.

my confusion came not from questioning who is the queen and who is the pawn....maybe I read into what you said wrong but I thought you were indicating that everyone just found out what the cover is...so I was confused because that is not new news to me...

so what I want to know is who is going to breaking dawn release parties??? and where??

I am in Las Vegas:woohoo:

Hehe...sorry, I should have clarified. That quote about the book cover was not FROM ME. It was cut and pasted from the article in entertainment weekly. It also was not in reference to what the cover was (was going to be) but rather what the context/meaning of the cover was.

Hi and Welcome to our world:) I am also rereading the books waiting for Breaking Dawn to come out. TwilightMoms is currently not accepting any new members until after they reopen and they are also locked down starting tonight until after BD is released. However you can still go there and browse the boards and read the threads until they reopen:) Have fun:thumbsup2

LOL - that sounds so cool!!:) I'm a boring one - I just preordered from Amazon but I may have to run out and pick it up at midnight from somewhere -I doubt I can wait to get it in the mail that day.

My Mom is hosting a French girl for 3 weeks this summer. Today, they were going to Hershey Park. My DS went with my sister and this girl. While I was waiting to see them onto the bus, my sister told me that her new friend was reading New Moon in German (her first language). She barely speaks any English, but was able to tell me that she loves this series. She is all about Edward, too. So, it's not just Americans who love this book.

That was me! I like Taylor for the Twilight Jacob but Steven seems the perfect choice for the older, more mature Jacob. I can just imagine seeing this young, boyish Jacob and then seeing Steven and thinking WOW he's changed alot. This is the only character that I have "chosen" in my head. The rest I was willing to see who they cast. But ever since we saw 10,000 B.C., when it first came out, I have pictured him as Jacob.

I have always had a thing for vampires, so my obvious choice is Edward...but when I picture Steven as Jacob, I lose my resolve!

I'm going to the party here in Arlington, TX...now I have the book reserved at both Borders and Barnes & Noble, but I think I'll end up going to the B&N party since it seems like it is gonna be more fun..(prom, DJ, live band..etc) I'm getting really excited!!!

I read Twilight all the way through on Sunday. I didn't mean to it just kinda happened. I loved it! Headed to the store to get the other two and reserve the 4th. I know she is coming to the local Borders, but it might be during work hours.
