TWILIGHT vampire book!!!!!

For those of you wondering 'now what?'. I got the book City of Bones recommended to me and I bought yesterday. So far I've only read chapter one, but it seems pretty interesting so far.

I had read that that one was a good one to try next. I have it on my list! I also saw on Twilight Moms that Orson Scott Card's "Enchantment" was very good and it had a great love scene with no real action-kind of like the Twilight Series if you know what I mean. I'm reading this one now and it's very good. It's about a student of Russian ancient languages and mythology who saves Sleeping Beauty and gets caught up with Baba Yaga while in Russia. There's no Edward but it's still very good!:thumbsup2

OK, speaking of City of Bones, are we talking about the one by Michael Connelly or the one by Cassandra Clare? I'm looking for some new books to reserve at the library.

I was talking about the one by Cassandra Clare. I think that that's the one that CaribbeanPrincess meant.

It seems a lot of you are enjoying the Twilight series with your kids -- does anyone have a DH who's into the books, or "real life" friends?

I only have one friend who's read the books (and is just as obsessed as I am), so I'm planning on lending the series to another friend, and my DH said he's interested in reading them too! Maybe it'll encourage him to be more Edward-like, except for the undead part. ;)

Last month I saw the movie trailer for the first time and decided I just had to read the books. So I read them right and fall in love with them. I then tell 2 of my sisters who read it and then told our baby sister who also reads it. I then told my Best friend Andrea to read it, she reads them and then proceeds to tell two of her friends to read it(which they did and loved them!!) A friend at church overhears us talking about them and then she started to read them. It got really funny when my mother in law called to tell me she loved it!In all I have gotten over 12 people to read all four books in less than a months time!:rotfl: I have actually had angry husbands calling me asking me if I was the one who started this nonsense! All of us 20 and 30 something wives at church are just as bad if not worse than the teenage crowd!!!

Can I jump in on this? I was JUST turned on to the whole Twilight craze and I am soooo totally hooked. I have about 100 pages left in the second book. And tomorrow I am going to buy the 3rd and 4th. I am in love with these books and the characters. :lovestruc

Yup. I'm about half-way through City of Bones and so far I really love it. Can't wait to see what happens and go out and get City of Ashes. However, it's really nothing like Twilight. This is more about magical and other worldly creatures and demons, not really a love story. Though there is some flirting going on.;)

Welcome to our little obsessive corner of the world! :grouphug:

I'm a newcomer to the Twilight saga, too. I started reading the first book less than two weeks ago, and I finished the fourth book on Saturday morning. I've restarted Twilight again.. this afternoon, my DH saw it in my hand and said, "I thought you finished that one?" I said, "Heck, I've finished all four, and now I'm restarting!" I think now he's more interested in reading them, if I'm willing to jump back into the series so quickly.

Now, for the really important question: Are you Team Edward or Team Jacob?

I'm jumping into this thread too! My daughter (who hadn't even looked at a book all summer, forget about reading one!) just bought 'Twilight' this past Friday and finished it yesterday. Today she was obsessed with getting the second book of the series, 'New Moon',and is already half way through that!!

I thought that these books were for tweens/teens as all dd's middle school friends are reading this series, but after reading this thread, I'm convinced that I need to start reading 'Twilight'. I'm sure I'll be hooked just like the rest of you! Alright, I have to finish reading my David Sedaris book first, but then it's on to 'Twilight'!

I think I just set a new record for myself- I finished the Twilight series in three days! Of course, I did it without sleeping and was a total zombie at our teacher work day, but it was so worth it! I didn't even sign onto the computer to check my e-mail or Dis! That's how you know it's a good book. I think you all are right about the book being some kind of drug. Now that I know what happens I'm going back and re-reading the series, taking my time, noticing the little clues that suddenly make sense.

I just finished the first chapter of Midnight Sun, I can't wait for it to come out! It going to be awesome. I do hope that she does the whole series from his point of view, Edward can be a bit of an enigma. I would also like to see her continue the storyline into the future. I doubt there trials and tribulations are over.

Thank you so much!! I have not been this comsumed by a book in a LONG time.
Hmmmm... team Edward or Jacob? That is a hard one. I am not done with New Moon yet but as of right now Edward. Jacob is fab BUT the true love, passion, and tenderness I get from Edward just melts my butter. My fear is he will break Bella's heart again. Even if she finally changes... questions, questions, quetions!
I told my son tonight if I ever left his Dad it would be for a vampire! :rotfl: He rolled his eyes and called me a dork. I just laughed and continued reading.
Time to get back to the book!

Soooo many comments! Here's just a handful:

Have you guys seen this? It is SO funny! It is a movie spoof. You have to watch the very end..LMAO!

MY DH just started Twlight, and won't admit he's hooked. This is the first book that isn't a 5 inch thick computer related book I've ever seen him read!

I'm a teacher, so I'm in the company of lots of Twilight readers. My principal and two of my co-workers are into Twilight. I made them all Bella bracelets before the end of the school year and I have one as well. We were all texting each other re. Breaking Dawn. I just texted my principal the news about the movie being bumped to Nov. and she texted back "Twilight Rocks". I texted back "Twilight 4Ever". We're worse than the kids!!!!

Ok, THAT was funny!!!!

Yes, I agree! It's so silly to get all emotional over a book, but that is how I am. I am going to B&N this morning to get the next 2!
Thanks for the welcome too! :)

You are actually going to Forks? WOW! How fun would that be? I heard they actually have tours of the town kind of like NY did with Sex & the City!

I have to go take my kiddo to school but I finished the 2nd book and OMG!!!! More later... ;)

Love them!! My niece wanted to read them and my SIL asked me to read them first since I like Vampire stories. After reading the firstbook I went out and bought the entire series. Did you know that they are making a Twilight movie? Also check out Stephenies website (stepheniemeyerdotcom) she has started writting Twilight from Edwards point of view ( Midnight Sun) and it is going to be fantastic! It will be a bit darker because it is from a vampires point of view. It really has a different feel from Twilight.

Here is the info on Midnight Sun ( Edward's view) You will need to click on the link in the article to read the first chapter. I can't wait for this one to be complete.

I am absolutely addicted to this series. I had no idea that she was writing a book from Edward's point of view. That will be AMAZING.

got the first book last week...read the first three books in three days...started the fourth one this morning..I am an addict...I also bought a shirt of the movie...

So Bella stole MY birthday!!!!

I'm SURE you'll have FUN in Forks! Which in So. Utah is "Farks"

I wish I could go to Forks for SM day, but unfortunately i'm stuck with classes. -_- I will however be bringing Forks here and doing a Bella's B-Day bash at the mall with a group of fans. :)
My actual Forks trip is scheduled for next summer, since my brother lives about 5 hours from Forks. :)
