TWILIGHT vampire book!!!!!

For those of you wondering 'now what?'. I got the book City of Bones recommended to me and I bought yesterday. So far I've only read chapter one, but it seems pretty interesting so far.

I read the first chapter of Midnight Sun, and now I'm annoyed that it's not done yet! I love Edward's "voice" and I think the book will be really amazing.

Sigh. Why is he fictional? :guilty:

I read earlier in this thread that a lot of you were annoyed by Bella's helplessness and damsel-in-distress attitude. I didn't get that feeling at all. When it came to things happening in the vampire world, she SHOULD have felt helpless as a mere human. She wouldn't have had any way of coming to her own rescue. Besides, would these books have been nearly as good without Edward playing the hero? I think not!

I wonder if they're going to be making all of the Twilight movies back to back, since all of the Cullens will have to look exactly the same throughout the series. It would be a little weird to have anyone looking more mature in later films. And I read somewhere that it's planned to be a trilogy of movies -- are they combining events from the books, or is there no plan for a Breaking Dawn movie? Say it isn't so! I need to see Bella and Edward's wedding! (highlight for possible spoiler)

More spoiler discussion to follow:

What did you all think of the name chosen for Bella and Edward's daughter? Seriously... Renesmee? The word on the page hits me like a freight train every time I see it, and it sounds even worse spoken aloud. Ugh.

I don't have any issues with Bella's character. In many ways she is my favorite character and she is what attracted me to the story in the first place. Bella's character is someone I look up to and admire, and she taught me quite a few things about life, hehe

I went out to dinner at the dining lodge of our state park and brought my book with me. I got so wrapped up in it that instead of going home I went and sat on a bench at the edge of the lake and read until I finished it. All I can say is...wow!

I picked up the rest of the books at Hastings and decided to read a bit of New Moon. I made myself stop at the end of the chapter in which Bella opens Edward's birthday gift. I'm off to take out the puppies and then dive back into the book! I can't wait.

Don't forget a big box a kleenex for the rest of NM -- you'll understand why soon.
I understand the draw -- the pull --the magic of these books. I keep re-reading them myself. I never get tired of them! I am obsessed.

Can't wait for the movie to be released! OOH Edward....... I just love Robert Pattinson as Edward. He has Edward channeled somehow. And MS -- Midnight Sun -- can't wait for Stephenie to finish that one up.

They're going to release the Twilight movie on Nov. 21st now since WB decided to not release Harry Potter until summer 2009!

This is a reply in re. to Mickey&Donald's spoiler question: I do not like the name Renesmee or Nessie at all. It is just so cheesy. However, I love her middle name, Carlie. I wish Stephenie Meyer would've chosen Carlie for B&E's DD's first name and let Renesmee be her middle name.

i really hope with all my heart that they do all 4 into a movie...however, I agree with you on the cullens characters...if they get started on the films right away then they can use the same characters and it wont be a problem....the only issue I can foresee is Jacob's character but we all know he will have to be replaced anyway...the one now is such a young pup:cutie:

Haaaaaaaahahahahahahahaa... that spoof was truly inspired. :rotfl: I loved the part with Edward in the shower, screaming like a girl.

I will be at DL when the Twilight movie comes out-darn! ha ha Guess I'll have to see it the next week. My birthday is on Dec 10th-I was going to take off the 12th as a present to myself and go to see Twilight. OH well! I'll have to get an early birthday present instead.

It seems a lot of you are enjoying the Twilight series with your kids -- does anyone have a DH who's into the books, or "real life" friends?

I only have one friend who's read the books (and is just as obsessed as I am), so I'm planning on lending the series to another friend, and my DH said he's interested in reading them too! Maybe it'll encourage him to be more Edward-like, except for the undead part. ;)

I'm a teacher, so I'm in the company of lots of Twilight readers. My principal and two of my co-workers are into Twilight. I made them all Bella bracelets before the end of the school year and I have one as well. We were all texting each other re. Breaking Dawn. I just texted my principal the news about the movie being bumped to Nov. and she texted back "Twilight Rocks". I texted back "Twilight 4Ever". We're worse than the kids!!!!

I was telling my cousin about them. bought her Twilight and started her addiction. She went to the Twilight Prom w/me for the release of Breaking Dawn. We were among the few adult fans there but had a great time! I passed my copy of Twilight to my niece and she whipped through the entire series. It's all about spreading the Twilight love!

My sister is reading it now, so we'll see. She's 35. My dad read Twilight but was sorely disappointed. He's HUGE into vampire and werewolf fiction but this wasn't at all what he was expecting...uh duh.

I have a DH and a DS13 and I read out loud when we have car rides that are longer than about 30 minutes. I chose the Twilight book and all three of us enjoyed it so much that we found ourselves making time on other evenings to bring the book inside the house and read a couple of chapters out loud. We are now in the middle of book 2 and I am always amazed at how often my DH chuckles out loud because of something in the book while I am reading it.

DH is WAAAY more into it than I am. He has even been to the website to check things out. I am scared to death that there will be something on the website that will ruin it for me. DH watched the 2 trailers for the movie when I was only 1/2 way through the first book and they showed several things that we had not gotten to yet.

I am worried if the books get really sad because I am a real cryer! I got VERY choked up when Edward left in the beginning part of book 2.

My husband won't read them, but I have several girlfriends and co-workers (all female) that I have introduced the series to. All but one of them love it.:goodvibes

I don't think that DH would read these books on his own, but he is truly enjoying them as I read them aloud.

My stepdaughter has been reading Twilight for 3 months-likes it, but not a reader.
One friend tried Twilight and didn't like it.
One friend told me on Friday that she didn't like it until New Moon and now she's really getting into it.

So nobody is obsessed like me so I don't have anyone but my online friends to talk to about it so far -thanks to all of you though so I don't go completely crazy!!!
