TWILIGHT vampire book!!!!!

My thoughts on New Moon, is it's basically a crucial bridge to Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.

You can either view Bella as whiny or tormented. Remember her age, despite her "old spirit" and general maturity level.

Hugely important background information and characterization are presented too.

So, I say just appreciate it as the doorway to Eclipse and Breaking Dawn

Happy (early) 4th of July, Book-Clubettes!!!!! :cool1:

I completely agree with you!!

I'm revamping the books too, as well as hanging out lurking on Twilight Moms! i have major theories of my own for the next book, and haven't found anyone else who shares them yet! exciting!

I just read the entire series last week. I actually enjoyed New Moon. However, it's because I knew I had the next book sitting on my nightstand waiting for me to read. If I had read New Moon by itself and then had to wait months or a year for the next book to come out, I would have been totally frustrated.

Since I knew Edward would come back eventually, I was able to enjoy the story that was being told and not get too anxious to see my couple back together again.

It looks like I'm in the minority here - I liked New Moon (better than Twilight). I completely felt Bella's pain. I liked the developing relationship between Bella and Jacob (though I don't think they should be a couple). I LOVE Edward, and love Edward and Bella together, but it was nice to have a breather from their relationship. It was just a little too sweet for me - BUT that doesn't mean that I wouldn't love to have that sickingly sweet relationship, I just wanted a little more connection between Edward and Bella in Twilight.

Beckanoah, I'm curious, what are your theories for the next book? I haven't really thought about it. I would rather be surprised than be disappointed because I thought my ideas were better.

***SPOILER: I will say this though, Jacob and Bella can't be together - the author has said time and time again that Jacob hasn't imprinted on Bella. If she chooses him over Edward, what happens if he later imprints on someone else? That's why I think we know the story of Sam and Emily and Leah. That would be Bella's future. ALTHOUGH, I have wondered if Jacob decides to no longer be a werewolf for Bella, does that mean he can't imprint now? Any thoughts???

MischiefManaged,

I agree with your spoiler. **My theory: Bella and Edward end up together, not to be a pessamist (sp?), but I don't see the series ending without a "happy ending", movie franchises on the line and all.

I can't wait to see how it happens though!

I watched the clip of Vanity Fair. I'll reserve judgment until I see the movie. When a book is made into a movie there is always something lacking, but I do think I'll enjoy Twilight the movie and all the actors.

I HATED New Moon because of how it made me feel. I never read the end of a book first and I had to find out if Edward came back. If it turned into a Jacob/Bella story, I was done.

I also think its clear from what Stephenie Meyer has said that Bella and Edward will end up together, its just questionable whether she will be a vampire. The Midsummer Night's Dream tie-in I think may be Alec's power messing with Jacob's mind, making him think he imprinted or Bella and her really trying to decide if she loves Ed more...or Ed will be "imprinted" on someone else and we have to read that struggle. I hope not because I don't think I (or Bella) can take it if Ed strays.

I don't think we need white-out spoilers in this thread.

I've got about 100 pages to go in NM. Darn parents having a darn 4th of July cookout. ;) I'd still be on my deck reading if I didn't have to go there.

I can see how you are right in what you've said. Once I'm through this, I'll keep reading "Dead Until Dark" for myself while I start reading NM over, aloud, to my kids.

I don't think we need white-out spoilers in this thread.
Not everyone has read everything. I think it's polite to not put spoilers right into the faces of someone who doesn't want to read them.

I, OTOH, don't have a problem with spoilers. I just know that others do, so why not wash them out?

Oh, and for those who think Jacob is better for Bella, I just don't see why. Especially after what happened to Emily.

I personally will be sorely disapopinted (perhaps enough to boycott the movies) if Edward and Bella do not ride off happily into the sunset TOGETHER as vampires.

So many jaded people these days. I would hate to think that Meyers has become one of them and won't end her series with the "everybody happy" ending.

i agree whole heartedly with you on this one....the only way to have that kind of relationship though is to give your heart completely to that other person and I dont think thats possible once its been broken...you always save a little piece of it for yourself for protection...know what I mean...

btw...my dd is now on NM:woohoo: AND she HATES Edward:lmao:

Happy 4th everyone!!

I agree 100% Movies are rarely as good as the books they are based on, and I will eagerly boycott if Edward and Bella do not get their fairy tale ending. We are on the DIS after all!

I agree, though I probably wouldn't be able to boycott the movies. :rolleyes1

I just finished NM. It definitely picked up as it went along. The Epilogue was just plain sad. My heart was aching.

I think I would be sad if Bella and Edward didn't end up together, but it definitely wouldn't ruin the book for me. I don't think it not having a happy ending is being jaded at all. I actually appreciate when things like books and movies don't feel like they HAVE to go with a happy ending...that's not the way things always are...
would it be nice if Edward and Bellas end up together and she's a vampire? Yes. Do I feel like the series HAS to end that way? No.
Then again, I still kinda feel like I can see the merits of both Edward and Jacob so I guess I'm weird that way.

Bolding the important part here. THAT'S my problem. REAL life isn't that way...so I sort of expect movies and books to provide me with that escape from the harsh reality.

I told DH about my planned boycott if the book ends poorly and merely rolled his eyes and said "SURE you will." :lmao: No poker face I guess.

I am a HUGE Twilight fan--so much so that I made a shirt that says "My husband doesn't mind that I'm in love with a vampire." It's at Zazzle.com

Anyway, not sure if you know this or not, but there is a huge forum about Twilight at http://www.twilightmoms.com

This forum is for *ahem* older women who are either 25, married, or a mom, or all three.

Also, here are some sneak peeks of the movie that were posted on youtube.
Enjoy!

So I found out that at least one of the Barnes and Nobles in town is doing a release party. Reserved my book as well. Now all I gotta do is find some people in the Albuquerque area to go with me.

I just finished reading the Host, I was never really able to get into while on vacation, (too much other stuff to do,) but I started really reading it Friday, and finished it this afternoon.

Okay I just finished Eclipse. Man the end of the book got on my nerves; it stressed me out alot. :rolleyes1

I really thought (spoiler alert) Jacob would die! I really like him and I feel sorry for Bella who loves both of them....So where do you guys think he headed off to in the end? :scratchin

I can not wait to see how she wraps things up in the next book. :thumbsup2
