Does anyone know what TV channels are available at the three Disneyland hotels? We just realized that for the very first time in the US, BBCAmerica is airing their Doctor Who Christmas special *on* Christmas Day. I know the parks will be crowded anyway, and was thinking if the rooms have BBCAmerica then on a break we could relax and watch the show in our room.

I'm pretty sure you won't get BBCA at any DLR area hotel ~ but thanks for sharing, I'll be sure to watch it at my mom's house *even I don't get BBCA

The channel selection at the hotels is very, very limited, unfortunately. It's the most basic of cable channels.

Off the top of my head, I can remember the channel line-up included all the major networks, of course, and then TBS, TNT, USA, CNN, Discovery, Fox (I think, but I could be wrong on that), the Disney Channel, and...that's the bulk of it! I could be wrong, but I don't even think I recall seeing basic cable staples such as the Food Network, MTV or VH1 on the list. They may or may not have the Learning Channel on there (I can't recall). It seems Disney is very cautious and selective about the channels it allows to play in its hotel rooms, knowing that there will be many, many children who have access to the TV's. So it's all mostly news and educational stuff, in addition to NBC, CBS, ABC, etc. Definitely no BBC America.

Thanks Sherry...I thought the channel line-up was probably similar ot the WDW hotels, but was still hoping. It sounds so stupid to be thinking about this, when we're going to be at The Happiest Place on Earth, but (like I said before) it is the very first time that a Doctor Who Christmas special has been aired here in the U.S. *on* Christmas...usually we have to wait for them to come out in a DVD set or something similar.

If anyone has any ideas about how we might be able to arrange to see the show, post 'em here.

Thanks,
agnes!

I would but we must be the only family in American who doesn't have a DVR. If anyone has any other ideas about how we might be able to see the show when it airs (maybe are there any pubs in Downtown Disney that might have BBC programming on 'tap"? etc.) thanks in advance

Thanks,

Yay for Doctor Who! But sorry you may not be able to catch it on Christmas. It looks like it's going to be pretty amazing.

Last year BBCA played it only a week late and that wasn't too bad. But I'm pretty excited to see it on Christmas this year.

Do you have a VCR? You could just record it on a tape since you don't have DVR.

They do offer free wifi at the hotels and Boxee offers a free software download for most computers and can access BBC America. I am sure ther are other ways to watch it online too.

I feel your pain...we are arriving at DLH on christmas day but arent going to the park until sunday since by the time we get there we would only get evening hours in the park and we want 4 WHOLE DAYS! I was really hoping that BBCA would be available in our hotel room that evening but we are bringing the laptops and we are DVRing it at home. Really would have liked to see it bigger than laptop size on Christmas Day for once.

Ok, I think I need to hear from someone who has actually watched a BBC America program on its website on the day of broadcast (or something like that). We'll have a laptop with us & will be at a DL hotel on Christmas Day so wi-fi access isn't a problem. We have artists in our family so are mindful of performers' royalties and don't want to watch it on YouTube, etc.

And to the poster who mentioned 'Boxee'...I've never heard of it before and know nothing about it. Is it authorized, will I be able to watch BBCAmerica on it? More details please ::yes:: .
