So tonight all 4 of us were watching the Hockey Game (we won btw ;) ), and the Tv just changes channels on its own??? What comes on ... Supersize VS Superskinny.

The converters were all on the table in front of us, so nobody sat on one, or just plain old changed the channel. First time for us, but I was :scared1:, and then I head to turn off the 2nd computer downstairs, and the project my DS14 was doing is on the screen, and it is Supersize me.. Weirdness for sure.

How often has this happened to someone else? It got me thinking.

How close do you live to your neighbors? They could have a remote control on the same frequency that your electronics are picking up.

We had a remote control fan that was on the same frequency as something at our next door neighbor's house and quite often our fan would come on and off when they would use their remote next door.

HAUNTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok, I dont know if your place is haunted, but that would just weird me out!!!!

Ironically, today for my DD12's English class: a local author who writes books about ghosts, etc in our state came by and did a presentation with pictures. DD bought one of his books but I haven't started reading it yet.

One of the pics: a white dog near a tree, ok, but on the other side of a tree was another dog and it wasn't the guy's dog, or shall I say living dog:scared1:

We live very close indeed to our neighbors. I just can not imagine ANYONE changing the channel in this city while hockey was on (JOKE), but hmmm, that is a different angle. The fan thing is :rotfl2:

Haunted. Maybe the battery is dying. Time will tell if this happens again.

My TV does it all the time. We have SHAW satelitte dish. I remember someone explaining why it does that once long ago, but don't remember the reason. The menu also pops up while I'm watching too. It seems to happen more often during bad weather. So annoying!

CarolAnnnnnnnnnnnnnnncome to the light........:scared1:,:faint:

I have the same problem with the sound. Tv and dish is off, then we just get sound. I thought someone was in the house with me talking to the dog!

Could the channel button on the remote be sticking when you press it? Or could it be the ghost of someone who doesn't like hockey?

I honestly don't think so. I will add more to this story, but it will really :scared1: :scared1::scared1:you all out. My doorbell went off at 2am, and STUCK, and DH went out and fixed it, thinking kids were pranking (never saw that, but?) and then at 2:45, SAME THING . Seems there was a short in it, and that is when it decided to go off. I was thankful Dh was home, because he works MANY nights.

A very weird day, and I will chalk it up to my MIL who passed 9 years ago. ALthough we ended up quite chummy, she always knew how to get my goat. :rotfl:

I vote for someone near you having a remote on the same frequency=or some kid outside changing channels on people.

Some friends kept having their doorbell ring and no one would be there. For a while they though it was kids playing pranks. They figured out that their neighbors put in a new doorbell on the same frequency as theirs (wireless doorbells) and when someone would ring their neighbors bell it rang in their house too :lmao:.

Did she know how to make chees with it too:rotfl2:, j/k, that is the funniest thing I have ever heard before...get your goat:lmao:

When the TV started changing channels on me without warning, the problem was cured by simply changing the batteries in my remote control.

Not sure about the doorbell, but mice tend to move in this time of year and may be causing shorts. I'd check my wiring before considering the intervention of late relatives.

Yep, I'm such a sceptic and cynic! I just like the simple answers.:goodvibes

Very simple. Your house is built over an old cemetary. The cheapass developer just moved the headstones. He didn't move the bodies.

Many, many years ago when we first got cable the signal was so strong that my Dad could stand outside and change our neighbors tv. The husband saw my Dad do and didn't tell his wife for about a week. She and my Mom messed with his tools to get back at him. It was funny to watch.

We have had occasion where changing the channel in one room would change the channel in another, but not through walls from the next house. The standard for remote controls is IR; bouncing off walls and ceilings is feasible, but going through a wall would probably leave a mark. :)

By the same token, IR comes from everywhere. An over-sensitive IR receiver can readily misinterpret interference as signal. I've had cases where IR interference resulted in my inability to change channels reliably, and so it is easily fathomable that that interference could initiate a channel change.
