This is my second thread of the day! EEK! But I need your help and search hates me (it freezes!!).

We need 4 tuxes - DF, BM, my Dad, and DF's Dad. There is no place up here for tux rental that we can get DF and DF's Dad measured at. BM lives in Portland, Maine and my dad is in Worcester Massachusetts. We're also going to need dress steaming.

I'm so confused with this whole thing. :confused3 How does this work (as to getting them measured? Who would you recommend going with?

I am using MW Tux and I am really happy so far with their service. The men got measured up here at our local store and paid.

I called the Winter Garden store and they are very use to Disney weddings so they were prepared. I have to tell you I must have talked to a representative of that store about 4 times now. They call with updates telling me who was measured, who paid, etc. They confirm where you want the tuxes delivered, picked up or you can go to their store. As a matter of fact I spoke with a representative today and they confirmed all of the items the men are suppose to get, the brand, style, etc and told me that they have to be at the store at this time, blah blah blah. I love that they are very on top of every thing.

I am only dealing with Carolyn Allen's for steaming but I thought they were really nice and helpful also.

Any local tailor or seamstress can measure your guys, and the ones who live near a formalwear dealer can get measured there - possibly for free! The measurements you'll need are:

Height
Weight
Chest
Coat Size
Waist
Outseam
Neck
Sleeve
Shoe Size (hopefully they don't need a tailor to tell them this! :rotfl: )

We used CA for dress steaming and tuxes. Dress steaming went off without a hitch.

The problem we had with the tuxes might have occurred with any tux rental place: The Best Man was measured wrong in LA, so CA brought the wrong size jacket. And because it was not a popular style (apparently they do way more business in notch lapels than peak lapels), they had to get a new one from their warehouse. But it was closed cuz it was the weekend, and there was no way to get a new one to us by Monday at 5am.

As I say, we may have run into the same problem if we'd gone elsewhere, so it's more something to consider than a slam on CA.

The process is, you pick the tux style you want by looking online (www.mwtux.com or, for Carolyn Allen, http://www.jimsformalwear.com), then give the measurements and style names/numbers to the dealer you choose. If they will be delivering the tuxes, you have them come out a few days before the wedding and fit the tuxes on your guys. Then they make any necessary alterations/exchanges and deliver them the day of the wedding.

I am also using MW Tux and they are the best. Julie got everything set up for us. Our guys are getting measured at a local store. Also since Julie set us up as a group they guys all get $20 off their rental.

We are also using MW. We had tons of problems with the stores up here with getting the tuxes to FL but then we talked to Julie from Winter Garden and she fixed everything. She is awesome!

They do deliever to the hotel and pick them up which makes life way easier!

I am so happy that someone started this thread, it will definitely help put this together for me as well.

So, what I'm planning on doing is using Mens Warehouse. Are you saying that what we should do is have the guys measured at a mens warehouse locally and they will notify Winter Garden or is it best if I do that myself? Also, will Winter Garden be the ones to give us the tuxes once we are down there or do we take them down with us and have them pick it up? The problem is that I literally need nine tuxes. Our groomsmen are coming in at all different days/times and most likely we could never get them all in one place until the day before the wedding. Should I call Winter Garden now and get their advice? I also have no idea where to start on this and DF seems to be in no apparent hurry.

Sigh.

If your group is getting 9 tuxes than your DF 's tux will be free. I think the policy is rent 4 get the 5th free.

I used MW and had zero problems with them. We picked up from the store where we live because it was just easier for us. None of our tuxes needed steaming so we were good there.

Go to your local mens warehouse and pick out the tuxes that you would like. All the men don't have to be there. MW will take down all the names of the men and write down what they need to get. The other men can come in any time and get measured. They don't even have to go to the same mens warehouse that you and your DF went to (if they are in another town, state, etc) Call the MW in Winter Garden (407)-656-7707. Tell them that you are having a wedding in Disney. They will know exactly what to do. All the info is in their system and they can pull it up just by your name (or the name the tuxes are reserved in). They will give you updates as to who has gotten measured, who has paid. They kind of do the work for you. If you want to go directly to the MW in Winter Garden when you arrive in Florida, you can do that or they will deliver it to your hotel. The men try it on, if there is any problems they will take them back and fix the problem. Also, they will pick up all the tuxes at the resort after the wedding is over.

I hope that helped! :thumbsup2

On average, or a roundabout figure, how much could this cost our groomsmen-roughly? I'm a girl and I have no clue.

I think our choice was $150. No clue really as DH picked his up and didn't pay for it. However it depends on the style and accessories you get with them.

We were told the cheapest tux you can get from Carolyn Allen's is $120.

Ours were 150.00 but because I bought a dress from David's Bridal (who I guess they are affiliated with) they got $20.00 off.

I've gotten my tux through MW for several different weddings now and have been quite happy with them. We're also using them for our wedding, due in no small part to the dealings I've had with them in the past, as well as their national footprint....that way my groomsmen scattered all over the US can get measured.

The $20 discount comes from being a part of the MW frequent shopper club...I haven't gotten much/any spam/junk mail from them, so not a big deal.

I called Carolyn Allen's today. I looked at Men's Wearhouse and they had no stores except for Portland, Maine (about 6 hours south). Jim's Formalwear (who CA is affiliated with) actually has a store up here  that I didn't know about. So we can get them all fitted! I talked with Kevin today and he was very helpful. Now I've got to go drag DF and FFIL to the Bridal Shop that has Jim's in it to get fitted. (Pray for me!!lol!)

This was another case of me making it harder than it needs to be. I do that alot don't I?! Thanks muchly to all! (as always!) :goodvibes

:thanks:

We used CA, and loved them. We had the everyone fitted when in town. The day before the wedding they came to the hotel for a fitting. One of the guys shoes were too big, so CA brought the corrected size the morning of the wedding. They were wonderful!

We've got Carolyn Allens booked for DH and my dads suits. We are going to their shop on the Monday for the fitting and they are bringing the suits with them on the Tuesday when they come to steam my dress.

They have been absolutely brilliant with their service to organise things for us. It was easier for us to go to the shop than them come to us as we are out and about fairly close to them. I am really impressed with them so far!

Do MW come to your hotel room for free like CA's do for a fitting?

And does anyone know how much their packages are, we like the cutaway tails style on the website?

I remember last year not being sure who to use out of CA's and MW, and for some reason I decided on CA's but I can't quite remember why now....

MW would appear to be better for us for the 5th tux free deal, as we are having 5 or 6 in total, and CA's you have to rent 6 to get the 7th free.

They seem to discourage self measuring on the MW website and tell you to go to your nearest store, but this wouldn't really work for us in the UK, have any UK brides used them??

Yes, the Winter Garden branch of MW Tux will send someone to your room. Also, the reason you may have picked CA last year was that MWTux used to be After Hours and some brides here had a bunch of trouble with them. But it's all sorted now. Really, I think you can't go wrong with either Carolyn Allen's or MWTux.

Also, you don't have to go to an MW Tux or a Jim's Formalwear dealer to get fitted. Any tuxedo-rental shop in the UK could do it (although the measurements need to be in inches :cutie: ), or any tailor or seamstress. :thumbsup2
