I was just talking to my DH and we were debating the dark suit/tux at dinner. He doesn't own a dark suit (the one he has is a olive green color) and it would probably be cheaper to rent a tux for the cruise than to buy a suit he will never wear again(he doesn't like dark suits). My question is...where do you rent a tux from and can you rent for small children???

in the past for seven day cruises, my husband and eleven year old rent a tux from a local shop. They understand that we are on a cruise, so they only charge us one week rental. Check that out...Also i know that some folks find them cheap on eBay too.

We got my hubby's tux from http://cruiselineformal.com/. They bring it right to the ship and pick it too. There is no need for you to do anything. The cost was pretty reasonable too. The best part is that you don't have to lug it to and from the airport.

First, an olive green suit would be fine for formal night (and again for semi-formal night). Although it may not officially be as formal as a tuxedo or a dark suit, there will be plenty of other men dressed in lighter suits. There will also be men in sportcoats or simply in long-sleeve dress shirts with ties. (Also, there will be some men who make no effort at all, which is unfortunate.)

There are three reasons to arrange ahead of time to get a rental tux on the ship: (1) You don't have to bring a suit or tux in your luggage. (2) It looks great on formal pictures. (3) It really allows the wearer to get into the whole "formal evening on an early 20th Century ocean liner" fantasy.

So rent a tux if you like -- but only because you want to, not because you think you have to.

We've also used www.cruiselineformal.com several times.

You provide your measurements/sizes, your ship and sailing date, and choose the tux and accessories you want on their website, and it will be delivered directly to your stateroom. No fuss, no worries, no packing, and they can take care of any last minute repairs or alterations on the ship.

The following quote is from the FAQ section of
http://cruiselineformal.com/

Q. Do you rent tuxedos for children?

A. Tuxedos for children are available on a pre-order basis when embarking from most North American ports. Please call our customer service department to request information about your specific cruise. Tuxedos for children are not available on board for rentals or exchanges.

They need to know ahead of time, they carry extra adult tuxes on board for last minute rentals for adults but not for children, order beforehand.

hope that answers your questions.

Thank you all for your help.

I think we are going to rent the tux...we don't dress up much and we like the idea!! Definitely something different for us....we are definitely the casual kind of folks!!

I can't wait to see the formal pictures!!!!
