Tux question

DH owns a tux so he's never rented one from DCL. Most men wear suits, and maybe 10-20% wear tuxes.

However, I hope the low percentage doesn't cause your DH to shy away from wearing one. There's just something about a man wearing a tux (IMHO.) :teeth:

Dh wore a suit. I really don't even remember if I saw guys in a tux.

One of the things we noticed on RCI was that it was related to which dinner seating you had. There are almost no tuxes during first seating (and about 10% at second seating). Is DCL similar in that regard?

My DH wear a tux on both formal and semi-formal. He was definately not out of place either night. When you rent the tux it comes with two shirts. Makes packing much easier. The tux, shirts and shoes are in your room when you arrive.

DH is planning on renting a tux for our cruise in December. I am looking into buying one on Ebay for DS. DD and I already have our formal dresses for the cruise. I am really excited for formal night and pictures.

That is the only company that DCL will allow to deliver to the ship. We used them & it worked really well.

I would guess that maybe 5% of the men wore tuxes on formal night. I did like MrsMork & wore it on forma/semi-formal night. Semi-formal night was our Palo night & it made it extra special being formally dressed :sunny:

how do you arrange to rent a tux do you do it through disney cruise line or through the rental company. how do you pick up and return what all do you get when you rent ty think this would make for a nice formal night photo

You click on the link above to get to the cruise line formal wear and go from there. You should go to a local tux rental shop and have him get measured then you provide the website with the info. The tux will be waiting for you in your stateroom and you leave it there when you leave. AWESOME!!!! They have two different rental plans that you can choose from. One package has two different jackets (1 white, 1 black) and the other provides two shirts. We used them on our cruise and there were no problems. We bought my DS a tux on e-bay which was much cheaper then the rental. Hope that helps!!

We received a tux order form with our docs. DH bought one on ebay for less than the cost of one rental. He has been able to wear it on both of our cruises. We love the formal portraits with everyone dressed up. :earsboy:

I have never seen my DH in a tux. pirate: We got married in casual beach attire.

Next November we will be on the Jersey week cruise and I am renting him the tux package with both jackets! I want, more than ever, to see him in the white jacket with the dark pants/tie/cummerbund. :love2: Yowza!

I bought my husband a new tux on e-bay for $95, less than the cost to rent one for the week. He rented shoes...they were in our stateroom the first evening. He wore the tux 3 times...formal night, semi-formal night, and to Palo one night. He really wasn't thrilled about dressing up like that 3 times, but he was very happy not to have to drag along more clothes for the various evenings!

My DH owns his tux (we sing in a choir that requires it) so I can't comment on the rental. However, on our cruise last October I think at least 10% of the men were in tuxes - it may have been higher. THere were certainly enough that DH did not feel at all out of place. This year he is bringing his tux and my DF is also bringing his - he owns both jackets, so he might bring them both! DS6 would like a tux like daddy's, but I am not willing to buy one when he'll outgrow it in a year!

Would wearing the tux with bow tie on formal night and wearing the tux with a regular tie on semi formal night work? Would it look too mix-and-matchy wearing a nice long tie with a tux?

I'd say yes -- that it would be better to wear the same suit both nights, rather than take liberties with the tux, as it were. ;)

If my husband rents a tux, and doesn't bring a suit, will he feel overdressed for Palo, if he wears it there? :cool1:

OK - On page 1 (June 5) said I wouldn't buy my DS6 his own tux because he would outgrow it in a year .... Well, I ended up buying him a tux on Ebay! It was only $25 including the shipping (Someone's son wore it once in a wedding.) It came yesterday and is quite nice. DS6 is thrilled and plans to wear it for formal night. I figure I am paying for the great photo oportunity! Daddy & Grandpa have their own tuxes, so I'll get my 3 guys to do a portrait with just them. (And of course a full family one too!)

Doing so would be a major fashion faux pas. A regular necktie should be worn with a suit or sportcoat, not a tuxedo.

Palo has relaxed its dinner dress code for men -- coats are no longer required. But it is not uncommon for men to dress up to dine at Palo, wearing either a suit or sportcoat.

I have a tuxedo, and would wear it to Palo if it were formal night, semi-formal night, or we were celebrating a special occasion and my DW were dressed up.
