Tux Predicament

I called Men's Wearhouse yesterday to discuss tuxes with them for our upcoming Memories vow renewal Dec 9. They said they would deliver the tuxes to the resort Dec 5. We arrive Dec 6th and the guys would have to have final fitting (meaning any changes like too long pants etc.) would have to be called in to Men's Wearhouse by 4PM on the 6th. Our flight is due to arrive at 12:30 and we should be able to get to AKL and get tuxes tried on by 4 no problem. The tuxes should fit as long as they deliver the size ordered and the tailor at our local Men's Wearhouse measures correctly.

But I really don't want to count on should. I understand that they ship the tuxes from a distribution center that is closed on the weekends so that's why this deadline exists but if our flights are delayed (coming from the Midwest in the winter it has happened to us before) and the tuxes don't fit correctly we are out of luck! I've been told by Jim's Formalwear that it would be the same situation if we rented from them.

Our other option is to do final fit the week before locally and pickup our tuxes here and fly with them folded in the carry-ons. Then have Disney laundry service press and steam them.

Am I being paranoid? Anyone ever flown with tuxes?

I don't think you're being paranoid because this is exactly what happened to us. When the best man's tux turned out to be too large (because he was measured wrong), there was nothing Carolyn Allen could do to fix it for the same reason - closed warehouse.

What CA and Men's Wearhouse can do in your time frame is hem the sleeves and the pants cuffs, exchange shirts (unless they're a really unusual size) and exchange *some* basic tux pieces if you've selected a standard/popular style that they keep in stock (in standard sizes). You might even call and ask them what those are, then make your selections based on that.

As to bringing the tuxes from home, I don't want to freak you out, but there won't be time to have them sent out for pressing via Disney's laundry vendor. They have to be picked up in the morning to get them back by the following morning. Otherwise, the return time is the morning after your event. However, unless we're talking about linen suits, I don't think they're going to get too wrinkled in transit - most rental tuxes are made of synthetics. So maybe your best bet is to get everyone fitted at home and just bring the tuxes with them. Worst-case scenario, I'll bet you could drive them out to a local dry cleaner (or Carolyn Allen) for steaming while you wait. Heck, maybe CA would even come out to do the steaming, if they had room in their schedule that day.

She actually told me that we could just return our tuxes to our local store when we get home and that there wouldn't be any extra charge. I haven't verified that with our local tux store though. So laundry services would have all day Saturday and Sunday to get them done.

So glad I don't have to worry about my dress!
