4 adults, all first timers at Tutto Italia.
Two are not adventurous eaters. I am somewhat. They like very basic food and were a little leery about trying something new. Their first question to each other is what will we eat?
We were on the DDP and made an early dinner ADR sometime ago. We probably arrived a little early even, and were seated within 5 minutes.
The restaurant was never full, but steadily increasing in others being seated the longer we were there.
Our server was attentive and prompt. And what rare gaps there were with him were quickly filled in by a gal clearing dishes, etc.
We figured not needing an appy, and were quite right.
We started our meal with ice teas and diet cokes. Quite a variety of fresh sliced breads and breadsticks were soon brought to our table, along with some delicious olive oil for dipping. Not knowing anything about olive oil it was still easy to tell it was a quality oil.
A few minutes later a nice variety of raw veggies and some dipping sauces were set in front of us too.
I don't know what the sauces were, but they were yummy. The veggies were very tasty and included at least a half dozen varieties, including green beans and asparagus spears. All very tasty, even without dipping.
Us two ladies ordered lasagna. (Lasagna al Forno with meat ragu, bechamel and parmesan.) The meat was very good. It was like a true piece of seasoned roast FINELY ground. Very flavorful. And the cheese VERY creamy. Pasta cooked PERFECT for me. (DH thought it slightly overcooked. He had a little bite as I could not even finish it all, as much as I wanted.)
DH ordered Tortelloni (alla Panna Tartufata - veal ravioli with white truffle cream and a barolo wine reduction). He rolled his eyes in ecstasy after the first bite.
The other DH ordered Braised Pork Shank (with creamy polenta and root vegetables).
Every good thing you ever read about Tutto, consider TRUE!
We raved during the meal, after, and I even heard positive comments through this morning.
For dessert the other couple each had Mocha Tiramisu (mascarpone cheese, espresso coffee, savoiardi biscuits and chocolate). And this was the FIRST time they ever had tiramisu. So I am afraid they will be deeply disappointed when they try it from another restaurant.
I came so close to trying the cannoli. But instead went for a dish that came with three small puff pastries filled with gelato. Our server was QUICK to be the one to pour a stream of warm chocolate syrup over the puffs. (Certainly not your typical Nestles chocolate syrup.
)
DH ordered Copetta Sotto Bosco - berries, zabaglione cream gelato and chocolate sauce.
We all really enjoyed the desserts as much as the meal. Although I would probably order a different dessert. Not that I did not like what I had. I think others would be better. The others all raved about theirs.
I certainly think none of us would hesitate to return to Tutto's even without being on the dining plan.
Big thumbs up all the way around.
