Tutto Italia Dinner 6/9/13

I was a bit disappointed in the Sauerbraten (my favorite was from The Berghoff in Chicago)

TOO funny -- I am from Chicago, and The Berghoff was our family's favorite downtown German restaurant!! I was able to take my son there a few years ago for sauerbraten; small world!!

Excellent review! You do a great job with them! :thumbsup2
I had the Filetto di Sogliola in May and, like you, fell in LOVE with that dish. It is truly heaven on a plate. :cloud9:
Off to read your others! :goodvibes

Great review and even better pictures.

This has been 1 of our favorites for our past 2 trips and is now in our 'must do' column. I agree with your son. The lasagna is amazing. But after looking at that fish plate, I may have to give that a try next time.

Speaking of next times, on your next visit, I recommend trying the calamari (prob the best I've ever had). And for dessert, my fiance' swears by the tiramasu. Before our 1st trip down, she would refuse to eat tiramasu. It's not that she doesn't like it; quite the opposite. It's that when she was in school, she did a semester in Italy. And having the authentic Italian desserts, completely blew out of the water, their American made counterparts.

...Until, she tried the dessert trio (no longer on menu), which had smaller versions of different dessert items. She RAVED about the tiramasu. So much so, that, on our last trip, I made sure I booked Tutto Italia for our check-in day, so that she could get a full sized piece.

Wow, great review!!! I was always hesitant as well to eat in Italy at Epcot since we eat Italian all the time at home and in restaurants...we live in Brooklyn, NY so like you, we live in a place with excellent Italian restaurants. But, one of my colleagues, who lived in Italy for a few years as an adult and whose father grew up in Italy, had gone to WDW for the Thanksgiving weekend before our last trip. Her father was there with them, and he insisted that they eat in both TS restaurants in Italy at Epcot...she thought he would be disappointed but he loved both Tutto Italia and Via Napoli. She also loved them...she said in fact, all 4 of the people in their party were very happy and would go back when in WDW again. I asked her which one she thought my kids would enjoy more (they were 5 and 7 at the time) and she said Via Napoli because they could get pizza (which she said was delicious), or spaghetti and meatballs (their 2 favorites!). So I booked Via Napoli.

We truly loved Via Napoli, from the food to the service, to the drinks! I had a delicious Bellini (I love them, and I knew I had to have one!), and DH felt like having sangria. He always orders red sangria, so this is what he asked for. But the waiter suggested the white sangria...he said it's very refreshing in the summer. DH went with the waiter's suggestion and he was so happy!! He made me taste the white sangria and it was fantastic...so I agree with you about taking suggestions from the CM!

DH and I shared one of the pizzas at Via Napoli and we really loved it. And I am so picky when it comes to pizza!! I didn't go in expecting NY pizza because I knew that wasn't what this place was about, but it was just as good as some of the places in NY that serve that style pizza (Lombardi's, which is my favorite local one, and also Grimaldi's). It's hard to fully describe it and do it justice...everything just tasted so REAL! DH also loved their tiramisu and he is picky with that...and tiramisu is his favorite dessert. I loved my zeppoles. Overall it was just a great experience.

Hmm...we do have our favorites at Epcot but we may just have to fit in Tutto Italia for dinner somewhere on our July 2014 trip. That fish you had looks delicious! But so does your DS's lasagna! I do not make it with bechamel (I use ricotta, mozzarella and parmigiana), but when I was in Florence, Italy they did, and it was the best I have ever eaten.

I think my sons would love Tutto Italia. It would also be a great value using our TIW card with the 20% discount!

Wow -- thanks so much! I am a huge calamari fan, so I will definitely check it out next time. And we also tend to be "anti-American-tiramasu," so now I know we just have to go ahead and order it!!

OK -- you're from Brooklyn, and you're recommending the pizza at Via Napoli -- so THAT means we absolutely have to give it a try!:thumbsup2 I also have to admit that I'm a big fan of Bellini's (Harry's Bar in Paris -- heaven on earth) and the sangria does sound fantastic.

Here's to many more trips and great meals~~~

Great Tutto review. I had that lasagna and raspberry sorbet back in May and it was superb.

I recommend Via Napoli to everyone now!! DH and I had the Capricciosa, which has 4 different toppings (1 per quarter of a pie)...prosciutto, eggplant, artichokes and mushrooms. All of it was delicious and very filling. We shared a large and it was too much but delicious! I'm not sure how big the individual pizzas are. And the largest one, I can't even imagine how big it is! But probably plenty for our family of 4 I would guess. I think we will try Tutto next time though. My sister and her husband were on a cruise on their honeymoon back in March that stopped in Port Canaveral, FL for one day. They went to Epcot to eat around the WS. They stopped at Tutto Gusto for some Italian beer and some eats. They loved it! May be worth a stop for a quick snack one day too! :goodvibes

I don't think I would eat at other Italian eateries at WDW like Tony's at MK or Mama Melrose at DHS, but in Italy at Epcot they seem to really know what they're doing!

What a great review! Makes me want to try that sole. Like another reader, I would just never think to order fish at an Italian restaurant.

It's so true -- we think of the Italian specialties that we know and love. But that fish deserves a restaurant of it's own, it is so good!
