Staying at AKL, deciding between Boma (although I'm not crazy about buffets), Tutto Italia, and Flying Fish for our last night. Want to go out with a bang! Advice, please! Also, I've been reading BAD things about Chefs de France, which we have scheduled earlier in the trip-should I toss that for one of these as well? Thanks!!!!

Yes, we're doing Jiko, which is another reason I don't feel the need to do Boma, and we get to soak up the atmosphere of AKL as we're staying there:)
BUT, WHAT is so great about Flying Fish? Please tell me!!

We're from New Orleans where we are lucky to enjoy lots of fresh seafood. This is the first seafood rest. at WDW that has impressed us. We were there with another couple & every dish we had was amazing!

The menu has changed slightly since we've been there, but here's a few pics of some of our dishes.

Fried Calamari that was the lightest, crispy and delicate that we've ever tasted!

Potato Wrapped Snapper with leek fondue and red wine butter sauce

This dish sounds & looks a bit odd, but it was delicious! The potato crust was light & crisp, the fish was delicate & fresh. The flavors of the leeks and sauce were just amazing.

The crab cake, again fresh & crisp!

Tuna Two Ways, deelicious!

They also have a very nice wine list. Can you tell we really enjoyed it?;)

Flying Fish for sure! Must try the calamari, too.

Wow! Those food pics. look delish. as do your descriptions!!!!! You sold me

I love me some Flying Fish.

I hate me some Chefs de France.

I hope that's helpful. In all seriousness, FFC is one of the best restaurants at WDW and, IMO, the best seafood option (completely eclipses Coral Reef). The atmosphere at FFC is also fun with the open kitchen. It's not a stereotypical "fancy restaurant"...it's a restaurant with great food sitting on a boardwalk. There is definitely a boardwalk feel to the place which is relaxing and whimsical.

Thanks everyone! Now that you've convinced me about Flying Fish (and I am so thrilled, btw) What is the best/easiest way to get there from AKL (we have (2) 70 year olds and a 5 year old with us)?

The Flying Fish is on the Boardwalk, as part of the Boardwalk Inn. If you are departing directly from your Resort, you'd have to go to a Park, and take a bus to the Boardwalk. The closet park for you is AK or a water park, but those close at 5 or 6, so that option pends your ressie. 2nd option - go to Epcot or MK via bus, and take the bus to the Boardwalk. That would help avoid walking with you party.

Ahh...yes - should have thought about that right off the bat. Above poster is 100% correct. The Bus to DHS, then the Boat to Boardwalk.

When the boat gets to Swan/Dolphin, you could elect to get off there and walk over to the Boardwalk. Fairly short walk, and the boat will take more than 10 minutes to get to the Boardwalk dock from that point, since it stops at YC/BC, and loads/unloads before going on to BW.

Thank you so much. Sounds like a fun way to get there. Is this also the way to go from AKL to a World Showcase restaurant? It's such a long walk from the EPCOT entrance...

If you are departing directly from the AKL, and in eating in the WS, then yes - the walk from the entrance to the World Showcase can be a long one. You can always opt to take the boat from the edge of Future World to the World Showcase. I have found though, unless your feet are just tired, it is just as quick to walk to the destination.

Keep in mind, if you are in the Epcot Resort area for any reason, or at DHS, making a reservation at an Epcot WS restaurant might be a good option. That way you can ride the boats from the Resort Area or DHS to the WS.

There is a lot walkin to be done either way - but it's a *great* calorie burner before or after these meals!
