I know, I'm just saying it's a fine line. The in house manager should have done more for sure, but I just don't think it's worth escalating. Don't sweat the small stuff or whatever![]()
My kids probably would have cried if there were no Mickey waffles! (Okay, I would too!)
If the kitchen has switched over to lunch food, there was no way for them to bring out breakfast food. The manager did offer what breakfast foods they could, which the OP refused. It may not have been the experience the OP wanted, but they did indeed get a more expensive experience. Again, an ADR is not a guarantee of getting seated at that time. Book one that is close to the time a restaurant switches from breakfast to lunch and there is a chance you will get a different one than you anticipated.
Lmao, I cried when the pretzel cart was closed at Hollywood hahahaha, love me some jalapeño pretzel!!
No, it's only an upgrade if you think price is the sole measure of value. A better comparison is like renting an intermediate for two parents and three kids, and being a given a 2 seater Porsche (which you can rent from Hertz, I just checked). The Porsche may cost more, but it still won't get the family and luggage to the hotel. No, it is like renting a compact and getting a mid sized sedan, even though you like smaller cars. The OP was upgraded, even though it was an unwanted upgrade.
Question: If you leave because it's taking too long is it possible to not be charged the $10 fees?
Not entirely related, but I was at the Marketplace at beach club. The person in front of me ordered a breakfast sandwich. At 10:55, it was my turn in line and I wanted to order breakfast which was still laid out. The lady working behind the counter didn't say a word to me for 5 minutes while she unwrapped stuff and moved things around. When she was done, it was 11:00 and I asked if I could get a breakfast sandwich. She said "sorry, we stop serving breakfast at 11".
Unfortunately an ADR does not guarantee you will be seated at that time. Only that you will get the next table available for your party size.
we felt we should still be accommodated for breakfast and items should still be available for those who reserved for breakfast.

The way I read the OP, I assumed that they did specify they wanted the "hot" breakfast options of Mickey waffles and eggs, but were only offered "cold" options such as pastries. It would have been nice if the restaurant staff offered to bring out some fresh Mickey waffles or frittata to the late-being-seated breakfast tables, but I don't know if that's realistic when the kitchen is working to put out and keep the items on the lunch buffet stocked for those who reserved and paid for that meal. It wouldn't be fair if someone who reserved, paid for, and was seated for lunch wasn't able to have salmon or sirloin because making breakfast items took precedence; they can't make everyone happy.I would have specifically asked the manager to have a batch of Mickey waffles cooked for the kids since that is why they came. That specific request would not have been unreasonable. It doesn't sound like they asked for specific items, only that they declined what the manager was offering. Sometimes being specific as to what you want makes all the difference.

What I'm guessing happened is as soon as they saw how close it was to 11 they decided that person was going to be the last person getting breakfast so they would hold off on orders for 5 minutes and do some other work. Crappy way to do it but I've seen it before.
You said there were items still available and moved to the middle of the room. Just because your kids didn't get Mickey waffles doesn't mean the vacations ruined, that the sky will fall, or that someone needs to lose their job. I understand you're frustrated but in all honesty....you sound a little entitled to me. You still got to eat breakfast. There is no guarantee of specific items being available.
If I'm paying for something, then I am entitled to it.
They ate what was there, but many of the hot items were unavailable. That's a legitimate beef.Agreed, but the OP stated they were able to eat breakfast. They booked breakfast and then they had it. I'm honestly not seeing the problem here. If they had booked breakfast and were then forced to eat only lunch items due to the restaurants late seating, that would be different. But the OP already said they ate breakfast.
