Tusker House for breakfast vs Chef Mickey?

Chef Mickey has been a constant our last 3 trips. I guess you could say it's been a tradition. And my kids are wanting to go in Jan. Problem is Tusker House fits into our plan better.

It seems they have similar menu items. Is Tusker House missing anything that Chef has? I need to convince myself and my family to make the change.

Personally, I don't think the difference between the two restaurants is anything remarkable, but I do prefer Tusker House to Chef Mickey's. We enjoyed the food at TH more than we enjoyed the food at CM. We also thought the character interaction was better, the restaurant wasn't as chaotic as CM-- you gain Daisy, but you miss Pluto and Minnie. If TH fits into your plan better, I'd say the two are interchangeable enough that you won't miss anything.

Tusker House. As others have said - we enjoyed CM but like the food choices better at TH. It also isn't as crowded.

Tusker House is a much more pleasant place to eat imo. It doesn't have quite as many characters as Chef Mickey's- that's the only negative. But the positives (better food, better ambiance) outweigh that for me. Since your kids have already been to Chef Mickey's repeatedly, but never Tusker House, I think choosing the latter is a no-brainer since it fits in better with your plans.

Another vote for Tusker House. It’s my trip tradition. Seven trips and seven times I’ve eaten there. Never been disappointed.

1) The staff has consistently been the best for any of the buffets/ayce restaurants on property.
2) The food is a good mix between traditional items and more exciting options.
3) Consistently the best character interactions.
4) It is already in a park so it cuts down on travel time.
5) The Layout of the restaurant means that it is a less noisy/chaotic affair.

We have been to both frequently - would vote hands down for food, atmosphere and characters at Tusker House. Personally we think the breakfast buffet at Tusker is the best at WDW. Enjoy!

Tusker House here too.
We always do the latest breakfast seating bc they start bringing out lunch items towards the end
The food is better, service too and my kids love the safari theme of the characters

I have to admit we have never done this, mostly because we like to get into AK early with an early ressie at Tusker. What lunch items come to mind that you recommend or is just the ability to have lunch instead of breakfast? Thanks!

I like BOG for an early pre park opening breakfast bc once you‘ve eaten your chosen food you are done. It‘s a waste to just stuff your face with food and run out the door to use the advantage of early admission at a buffet in my opinion.
At the buffets I like to spend more time trying out different things. With the last seating of breakfast you get brunch without paying for it. I like the sweet breakfast options but the savory options from the lunch are better than the breakfast ones.
Breakfast is cheaper than lunch also.

It seams Tusker House is highly recommended sooooo we're going to try it. Just had to promise my girls a ride on the monorail!

We're planning on an early ADR to get early entry.

Thanks everyone!

My family has eaten at both places 3+ times and if I give them a choice its Tusker House hands down. Plus if you go for a pre park opening breakfast the Safari is just a 2 minute walk away and you can eat breakfast walk to the standby line get on the ride in under 15 minutes and save a potential fast pass for something else.
