Has anyone done the character breakfast? What characters are there? How is the food?

We liked it a lot- food was very good. The GF selection (for me) was good too.
My DS especially loved the juice :)

The character interactions were great!

It is a good choice! the food is good and the characters are great with the interactions!! MY family craves the juice all the time! I enjoy making it early and walking through AK before it is open!

Our favorite park breakfast of our trip. Loved the more interesting food options (the mealie pap is something I need to learn to make) and the characters were great!

Near the top of my 'places to eat' list.
Had breakfast here many times.. never disappointed!

OK, I'm going to be kind of neutral on my opinion here. As far as buffets it is one of the better breakfast buffets. I do not like lunch/dinner buffets at all but for breakfast, with lower expectations than a nice freshly prepared table meal, I do like Tusker House along with Crystal Palace and Boma as those I will eat at. But I am of the opinion there is no such thing as great food found in a buffet. They are what they are; large quantities of food made for massive groups of people to scoop up and pile high on a plate and then come back up and repeat the cycle all over again... For many this cycle is repeated again and again and again and again. This is not true for some people, but for so many it is. I'm also not a germ a phobic but I can't stand watching an 8 year old kid without a parent up there with him/her, scratching their butt or picking their nose while at the station and then grabbing the serving spoon and filling up their plate. Yes, I do see this often. But with all that said, Tusker House is better than most buffets at WDW (or anywhere for that matter) and I would say the food is average, which is pretty good for buffet food. JMO... :goodvibes

As for the characters; Donald, Daisy, Mickey and Goofy in their safari costumes are a whole lot of fun and they do a pretty good job of interacting with the guests... This in my opinion is one of the best.

I love Tusker House breakfast. I think it might be my favorite breakfast spot.

Definitely one of my favorite breakfast places. In terms of character breakfast meals I put it ever so slightly behind 'Ohana.

NOTE1: The buffets are reasonably priced for a Disney park eatery. Although selection
could be more varied, there are menu items for most tastes. Although highly Americanized,
the dishes do have a good African flair. Breakfast is usually crowded (up to 1100 people
served), and ADR's are recommended. There are 4-5 good vegetarian options on the buffet.
Character inter-action is probably the best of any character meal, as they spend an awful
lot of time with the guests. Safari Donald is available for photos but, no autographs. Plus
this is the only place in AK you can see Daisy. Be prepared for the REALLY loud environment,
PS: At breakfast, make sure you drink the Jungle Juice !

NOTE2: shhhhh. Top Secret. OK, maybe not so much. If you have an ADR for up to 9:20am,
you can get admitted through the Main Gate as early as 7:45am, and be seated at Tusker
quickly. (If you are Japanese, you can have an ADR as late as 10:00am and get in as early
as 7:45am, this is through a reciprocal arrangement with Disney Tokyo.)

BREAKFAST BUFFET:

I get this- buffets are gross and so germy. I've been known to use lots of hand sanitizer, wipes, and even gone to wash my hands a few times after going through the buffet. I'm not a germaphobe, but buffets bring it out!
