Are Tusker House and Boma breakfast very similar? I have both of these booked for our trip in November and don’t know if it’s worth it to eat at both.

No they are not. First, TH is a character meal and Boma is not. TH typically does have one or two of the same African inspired items, like the bobotie but the selection is much smaller in TH in my opinion. Boma has a larger variety.
If you want the character interaction and want to stay in the park, then TH. It is very good.
If you just want a really good breakfast buffet with variety, with African inspired foods (and regular) then I'd say Boma.

We did breakfast at Boma for the first time on our last trip since we were staying at AKL. We aren't breakfast eaters so we usually don't eat breakfast at all at WDW but we decided to try it. It was so incredibly good. We did have to be careful though because it is easy to get stuffed at a buffet breakfast and then feel miserable touring the parks. We stayed away from the normal, every day breakfast items and tried to focus more on the unique things they have there. We both decided it was the best breakfast we have had at WDW and probably the only one we would return to since we don't do a lot of breakfasts.

Boma has more options and Tusker House of course has characters, but I found our meals there to be very similar. We've only done breakfast so I can't speak for other meals, but their "unique' African inspired options - which are amazing by the way - were largely the same at both restaurants. I don't think you can go wrong with either, but I wouldn't eat at both on a single trip.

Tusker House has a good selection of foods, and you get to see Donald, Daisy, Mickey, and Goofy.

The similarity is that each meal is a buffet that includes foods & seasonings from Africa.

Boma is about food (and taking in the beauty of AKLodge).

Tusker House is about (in no particular order): a.) being inside a Park, b.) Characters, and c.) exotic flavors of Africa.

The food is better at Boma, but you have to get to AKLodge to enjoy that food.

For my family, it's not worth the trip to AKLodge. But if it were our departure day, where time spent getting to/from a meal did not matter (or we had a child that would marvel at the vista of animals on the Savannah), Boma 'might' be worth the extra effort for my family (and would be a 'must-do' for other families).
