Turnstiles in July

I have a quick question for experienced summer visitors, since we typically visit off-season. We tend to park-hop regularly, and DH intends to cross between parks to collect FPs. Can anyone tell me how long it typically takes to get through the turnstile lines and into the parks during the busier times of the day in July?

It shouldn't take too long but that will depend greatly on how many turnstiles are open as well...

On previous trips, DH has jumped from DCA to DL and grabbed FPs for SM while the rest of us ordered lunch (let's just say at Taste Pilot's, since I can remember that specifically) and he's been back to us in time to join us as we began the meal. Is that a feasible scenario in July, for example?

Depends! Typical crowds, I would say 5-10 minutes. Right before or after WOC, fireworks, or entertainment it can take longer, 15 minutes or so.

After the majority of crowds arrive between 8 and 11, it is unlucky to get behind the guest that have problems getting in. 2 minutes to leave one park and get into the other is usual.

Thanks. That seems completely reasonable, and we should be able to maintain our practices. I imagine the lines for food will be a little longer too, which will make it a wash.

If you eat at slightly off times, lines aren't usually long for food either. I haven't seen CL yet, so can't speak to the food lines there. Just reg food lines in past Julys.

Thanks for the info! We'll be figuring out CL at the same time! Getting pretty excited as the countdown dwindles. From everything else I'm reading, it seems like (fingers crossed) that many of the other lines (as in those not associated with CL) will be the same as their summer usual or lighter.

Oh, yeah, we'll be there at the same time! I'll have my LGMH on my purse, so say hi if you see me. (It says Disboards on one side and Pinkbudgie on the other).

July is our normal time to go and it looks really good for the rest of the parks- at least from what I'm hearing.

I always hunt for LGMHs, but I never seem to spot any. I will keep my eyes peeled, though. Mine is on my Mickey bag, which is always across my hip. Fingers crossed for a DISer spotting!

I haven't seen any either but I'll keep looking!

If I'm remembering correctly, for DL, 13 went faster because 14 had a tree in front of it, so everyone lined up behind 13, then moved over to 14 when they got around the tree. I've done that before. I'm not sure of the numbers but I think that's what they were.

This sounds familiar to me too. I can't remember the exact numbers either, but I know exactly to which tree you're referring. This is kind of the same principal as waiting at an early entrance turnstile until it switches to regular admission. When we park hop, we tend to look for lines with mostly adults, and avoid the lines with lots of strollers; this is not because we have a grudge against the kiddos, I promise, but because it seems like those lines get backed up when the strollers move to the left, and it also gets a little confusing when families who aren't familiar with the entrance practices all step out of the regular line to get behind others with strollers. It can become something of a cluster. I may be wrong, but I feel that a slightly longer line which is absent this factor can move faster.

Apparently lines 20 and 21. The only thing I can think of is that they are further from the bag check area, so fewer people walk all that way.

There were actually two spots. One was in the 20's and one was in the teens. I remember that.

I try to avoid stroller filled lines too just because it does take longer for everyone to figure out how to get through. And people who do know to go through the gate with the stroller still end up waiting for the CM to open the gate.

I got lucky yesterday at DL. Everyone was lining up 1 row per line - but for some reason at 23/24 there was only one line - so I hopped in and it split to two as soon as the gates opened.

I've also noticed that the left security check is often (not always) shorter than the right. Maybe that has changed this summer with more people thinking of DCA and going to the left first.
