Turning in Car Rental at LAX - a big hassle?

We are renting a car for a few days to get from San Diego to Lego Land to Anaheim to Universal & back to Anaheim before we start DL. We are turning the car in while visiting DL (really don't need it, be will only be walking across the street for 4 days).

Now I am looking into how to get to LAX: options are buses, taxi or renting a car for a few hours.
Actually renting the car for a few hours is the cheapest, but my question is how much of a hassle is it to turn it in at LAX? Is it worth it, or just suck up the $20-$25 difference & take a bus?

It may be cheaper to keep the car and book at a weekly rate then then to pay daily rates for car rentals and for transfers to and from the airport.

I don't think it was a big hassle to rent a car out of LAX. The hardest part was finding the freeway after we got the car. One thing that we do that makes it much easier is we go to the terminal and check in our bags before we return our rental car. That way we don't have handle our luggage and the kids.

Renting from Avis at LAX has never been a problem for me that I can recall.

for the best rate I would go to priceline and name my own rate I got a car for 7 days for 16 bucks a day from long beach airport.

i have used alamo and have never had a problem. they have frequent shuttles and a playground at the station.

We have always found it remarkably easy to rent/return our cars at LAX.
But I LOVE this!

BRILLIANT!

I rented from Avis at LAX last week, it was very easy. A shuttle bus takes you to and from the lot.

I agree, it's really easy to return a rental at LAX.

I rented from Dollar, we did the same as JennHales I dropped off everyone and all the luggage at the terminal, checked in, got my boarding pass at curbside then returned the car. (We checked in over 14 pieces of luggage, 2 strollers, 2 car seats, plus had one person in a wheelchair, it took forever!)

Returning the car was the easy and fast part; I met my family at the gate. I have to say that flying Southwest through LAX was a breeze, they really helped out with getting my party through security and to the gate.

The only nerve wracking part was knowing where I was going to return the car, I followed the shuttle bus and that helped.
