please tell me all the rules I'm supposed to be following. Because some of the things said in the other "white after labor day" thread are wild. Unless it's "get the flu and new covid vaccine" I can guarantee you I'm probably not following a single one.

Love yourself as much as you love others. That's a rule I have but I don't think it's age dependent at all. :)

Happy birthday when the day comes!!!

Also, make sure you wear your favorite white clothes too. 🎂

Welcome to 45! It is a great year (At least so far. HA!) I hope you have a great birthday and a wonderful year. I don't really believe in all those rules. The only thing I try to do is remain present. Enjoy the moment. Life is short and this time we have is now. Don't think about the past, it's done and just makes you sad. Don't think too much about the future, that just makes you anxious. Just be with the ones you love now and enjoy every second of it that you can. Have a great birthday and I hope you get some really fancy cake!

The only thing I can think of is I started getting emails from my health insurance to get a colonoscopy when I turned 45.

Happy Birthday! I don't remember any of the rules about being 45, that was a loooooooonnggg time ago. FWIW I'm a guy who stopped wearing jeans when I found out I could get away with wearing sweats in public. :earboy2:

You don't have to follow anything! Life is to be enjoyed, as long as you don't act like a butthole, nobody cares. :cool1:
(the jeans rule on the other thread is poppycock)

I am with @China Expat, there are no rules. You do you!

But PSA, do take care of yourself: including mammograms and colonoscopies. ::yes::

LOL...I appreciate all the health PSAs and will heed them for sure. I was definitely not worried about a single one of the "rules". But I do appreciate all the birthday wishes ❤️ And I am always open for life advice. Halfway to 90 did have me take a deep breath for a second!

I saw that - women over 40 shouldn't wear jeans? What the heck? I've never heard that one. My mom is 91 and still wears jeans occasionally.

Women in their 60s & 70s are old hippies who were pretty much the 1st women wearing jeans in the 60s & 70s. We’ve worn jeans our whole lives, why stop now? :rotfl2: Although, my sister, that I call the original Hippie, hasn’t worn jeans in years. She just thinks leggings are more comfortable, not because she’s old.

I'm 60 and rarely wear jeans anymore. Used to be a daily thing. Have some still but I generally where athleisure now because it's more comfy and lots of it can be very stylish looking. But jeans are still good for some things.

Way over 45 myself. No rules but just be happy. Get rid of any drama in your life and don't worry about what anyone else thinks, life is too short and you will learn anyone else other than yourself is a moron. 😉

No rules from me, but get ready for menopause. It's a WILD ride. Be prepared.

The short hair brigade tried to get me to cut my hair when I was your age (I’m closer to 55 than 45 now… sigh). I said back off with the scissors, ladies. That’s the one aging rule I will never understand or comply with. I still wear my dark hair long with layers.

I plan to have long gray hair someday, like my sister. Her hair is absolutely gorgeous. Strangers compliment her on it daily.
