So we are TTC. If I get PG between Feb and March I would be due in Nov. Now my 30th is in Jan. I know it sounds silly but to me 30 is a big one. I wouldn't be able to go in Jan. I would go in July or Aug. So I guess I would be celebrating my 30 1/2 birthday. Anyway my question is has anyone taken a 9 or 10 month old to the parks? How has it gone?
TIA

As an FYI, I took my DD to WDW when she was 8 weeks, and to tell you the truth, it was probably easier then than it is now at 2. She still loved to look at everything, but I didn't have to worry about her getting 'germy'. We used hand santizer before we touched her, and she wasn't touching anything yet, so she didn't get sick. I just wanted to say that it IS possible to bring a little baby to WDW. Also, I was nursing, and I had no trouble there finding a quiet spot or even while watching the parades. Good luck!

We are planning on taking our DD one day next month, days after she turns 10 months old. I anticipate it will be pretty easy since she doesn't mind riding in her stroller. I have a friend though whose baby hates her stroller. I could not imagine carrying my 20 pound baby around DW all day, especially not in July or August. I second a vote for maybe your 30.25 birthday or something and going while the baby is smaller and the weather is cooler. Good luck TTC, and have fun trying!

I wish we could go in the Spring but we are both teachers. Neither one of us will be able to take the time off. Especially after getting back from Maternity leave. Maybe early summer.

We took DD at exactly 3 months - it would have been equally easy the month prior - so if you may be up for it for your birthday - I wouldn't write it off quite yet!! DD was nursing and like the PP, we just nursed on demand (I had a lightweight receiving blanket to coverup). My DD#1 will be 4 next month and has been 6 that was really our "easist" trip with kids

Going as a couple with a little baby is easy - I think it would be a little harder with a small baby and older children (we waited until DD#2 was 7.5 months) - just because the older one has "opinions" and it can't just be all about the baby's schedule!

Good luck TTC!

I have taken all my kids when they were about 10-11 months old. This was about the age when they could start eating table food if I cut it up really small or smushed it so I didn't have to pack any food.
However I will say that I took my son when he was only about 3 months old and this was the easiest out of all of them. I just carried him around in my baby carrier and all we had to worry about was Nursing for me or for others with children that age bottles. I don't see why you couldn't go right around your B-day.
But in all honesty I think you will be fine taking your baby at 8-9 months.

Thanks for the info. Like I said, I would like to during my birthday but I think it would be in bad taste to go away for a week after just coming back from maternity leave and winter break. Dh's school would NEVER let him go.

DS was 8 months old during his first trip. He loved sleeping in his stroller, so during naps we didn't do rides or we took turns. He was easy to please, needed food, diaper changes and a place to sleep. Loved the sights and sounds of disney, and we have many great memories. I was surprised how much an 8 month old can do at WDW, everything is so baby friendly. Go for it!!!

we took dd when she was 6.5 months and had a great time! we're planning on going again when she is 2.5 and are worried about that age more. if they are immobile, they are so content to hang out in the stroller and take in the sights. :) have a great time!!!

and good luck TTC!!!

Oh yeah, you can totally do this!!! I've taken all my kids as babies. Just remember it will be a slower, more laid back visit. And depending on their personality, they can either nap in the stroller or back in the room. My first two were easy breezy nappers...anywhere, anyhow. This last one...let's just say we are back in the room with him. ;)

Nice! I'm hoping to get my in-laws to go as well that way we can all have fun and my nephew who will be two by then can have some fun too!

My advice...don't overthink it. :) Babies are flexible little creatures, they really only have a few needs. No temper tandrums, no whining LOL.

Good luck on the TTC!

I'm trying not to. HAHA. Dh is all about it. I'm hoping that my in laws will come and Dh's brother and their son. It's so exciting. We miscarried in Dec right before Christmas which is when we started thinking about going for my 30 1/2. We would have had a 1yo. it's all good though! I feel much more confident now hearing that others have done this and it wasn't complicated.

So glad to read this as I was coming to post almost the same question (though a decade later :) )

We're due in September, which will give us a 4 month old at my 40th birthday in January. We also have girls who will be almost 13 and almost 4 then....

It sounds like this might be an easier time than waiting a year. We did a week at DL in July when DD was 17 months old and that went really, really well. It helped that we had my mom along, and that DD#2 is a bomb-proof kid, absolutely unfazed by the crowds and fireworks.

We took DD at 13 months her first trip and it was AWESOME!! We are currently trying for #2 (I turned 35 today and unfortunately will never see Disney on my birthday since it's always Presidents Day week) Of course I'm thinking about when our first trip will be if we get lucky enough to have another. It took clomid with our first and it's headed that way this time.

what did you do at meal time? How often did you go back to your room? DH is worried abut rides and not being able to to them together. What rides couldn't you do with the baby. I know ToT and Aerosmith, Everest, Kali am I missing anything?

Honestly I went at 32 weeks pregnant and then we took her when she was 13 months old. Anything I could do pregnant I could do with her. The only things she couldn't do were rides with height restrictions. I always loved Disney, but going pregnant and with a baby just made me realize how it truly is a "family" destination. Off the top of my head the things we couldn't do were Kali River Rapids, Dinosaur, EE, and Primeval Whirl at AK. At Epcot it was Soarin, Mission Space and Test Track....MK was BTMRR and Space Mountain and then Splash Mountain.....and Disney Studios was TOT, RNRC and Star Tours.....we still haven't braved Sounds Dangerous since DD (now 5) has a very vivid imagination. She has however done Haunted Mansion since that first trip.

We still haven't baby swapped....although I hear it's an easy process. We have just always enjoyed everything as a family.

We did go back for a nap every day. DD was too caught up in everything that she wouldn't sleep in the stroller and we had the big, bulky one (that is one thing I would suggest is to get a lightweight stroller - we got a Mac Quest after that first trip and LOVED it). I was still nursing her then so that was easy, but when we ate she would just have a little bit of whatever we were having.

The one thing that helped us.....and it isn't practical every time.....is that we got annual passes. We went December 2004, September 2005 (we threw this trip in just because we had ap's and friends asked us to go with them) and December 2005 so with two trips planned it made sense for us. But what I really liked about having ap's is that I never felt like we were "wasting" tickets or money if we needed to leave the parks. We completely went off her schedule. If she was tired we left....if she was cranky we left......HOWEVER, with that being said she did a great job and it was an amazing trip.

Thanks for all the good information. I will keep this all in mind. I'm excited and less worried now that it will be an issue.:cloud9:
